I've been dabbling with heroin (tar) quite a bit lately, only smoked, no other roa. I can tell I'm getting pretty hooked, but my mind seems to justify that some how. I told myself this is the last time I'm going to acquire more heroin for a while, have about a quarter left (we'll see how that goes). Anyway getting back on topic, from smoking it at least, I don't think heroin is as addicting as the media portrays it and what other people say. But then again, my mind just be fucking with me because I'm in the middle of this whole thing as we speak and I never shot up.

I've never tried meth, but I abused a lot of amphetamines (mostly Adderall) and its derivatives about 2 years back. I absolutely loved it back then but started hating it after it's long term effects, side effects, and come downs. Now I rarely ever use any type of amphetamines; became more of an fan of sedatives than stimulants.

Anyway, I know these two drugs are at the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of effects (upper, downer) but which do you think is more addictive? Let me explain what I'm asking by "addictive" because it can have a very vague meaning. Which of these two drugs are you more vulnerable to "get into" before you are actually dependent? Which is more enticing in the beginning stages of using these drugs? Discuss the different ROA's as well.

I believe they're both highly addictive and it all depends on the person... Their method of use and which one they just fell in love with more. Meth is psychologically addicting but heroin is physically addicting which in the end can make it psychologically addicting too... Using either isn't good because all you're doing is playing with fire, some of us just like fire though.

Damn, man.. You nailed that like a split hog! Good work :). The RoA to the drug has a lot to do with it, like faded said. I smoked tar from time to time before I was an IV user, and I was still popping pills over hareon. Now, when I started banging shit, IV dope was absolutely fucking amazing, the rush is too good. Don't ever do it.

IV use is definately more effective, though inherently more harmful and addictive. I got addicted to Poppy Tea (oral) though.

Meth is more addicting. Heroin is #2. Crack #3.

Don't even mess with the top 3 if you're not addicted. It'll ruin your life! :(

IMO Heroin / hard were both very addicting to me. I've dealt with Amphetamine addiction, opiate addiction, crack addiction, and benzo addiction, and by far opiate and crack were the worst 2 to try and get off of.

He tried smoking heroin, and it made him as sick as a dog, so he started to shoot. It lasted about 2 weeks (started to then smoke again too) until he just decided to stop.
No lie, the buzz of shooting is the best thing I've ever felt in my life, but to get addicted was just not on my list of things to do...
Maybe its something you keep in the back of your mind "I Will Not Get Addicted" and so your just strong enough not to?
However, meth and crack he would never try, perhaps knowing if he did it would be harder to say "No" again

It depends whether you prefer opiates or stimulants. I've never had a problem using coke or amphetamine in moderation but throw some opiates in front of me and I'll be high until they're gone. Technically, only heroin is both physically and psychologically addictive but I think the downward spiral of meth is steeper. Up for days, psychosis, terrible health problems etc...

But I've never done either so that's just a bit of educated speculation.

I couldn't say really...I was on the other end of the spectrum, being addicted to opiates (oxy mainly) in my early teens but never got to mainlining it until recently, my first and last IV was meth and that seems to do me in waaaay better than IVing even dillaudid (which I prefer H over any day, but I know there are conflicting statements on which is more potent, etc) and heroin. a good quarter gram of dope sends me on one for hours whereas I'm looking for my next shot in 5 minutes when it comes to banging opiates, with the exception of some really fire heroin. I think that's what keeps me going back to dope (ice), and i'm an individual that came out of the womb with anxiety of every kind. it drives me craaaazy, the way that I get on it. but yeah, for me ice has been the worst and yet to overcome...I have this fear that I'll never go back to living a life without meth.

They are both terribly addicting... heroin addicts just cant stop, because when they do they go through the WORST hell there is on this earth, heroin withdrawal

Meth addicts are different, since meth acts on the reward center of your brain, they really just dont want to stop, because their brain is COMPLETELY rewired to deal with crazy high dopamine levels in the brain. You become a different person because your brain is no longer the same, and if you take away the thing that made your brain like that in the first place (meth), then you have to go through the horrific process of rewiring your brain back to "normal" without all that excess dopamine running around in there

You will crave them both for YEARS after you stop using them (probably the res of your life)
addiction is hell, no matter what the drug, and these are the two most addicting drugs... probably ever.

These are the two greats of the three "evil drugs" IMO. The power of cocaine's effects don't really rival either of these (unless you smoke/shoot, but then it's so short-lived...). It's totally subjective, but I find meth much more addictive despite preferring "downers." While I will IV heroin again someday, I wouldn't be disappointed if I was never able to. I haven't used meth in 5+ years but can get it stuck in my head for hours after just hearing it mentioned. I never used enough of it to allow it to "rewire my brain" as some others have said. The subjective effects relative to the side effects (when sane doses are used over sane periods of time) are just that attractive, even to a rationalize, non-addicted brain.

Edit: Let me add, if you love other amphetamines, don't think of trying meth. It's not even comparable. Think of a functional, clear-headed MDMA high that is cheap and lasts a long time. That's going to be too good for most to control.

Heroin for me... I've never enjoyed uppers really. The few times i've used methamphetamine I just really regret doing it and the prolonged side effects of being awake. I like sleeping too much to be awake for such a long time.

If you know your getting hooked why dont you take a break..? Otherwise you can thank yourself when your addicted.
I dont think OD is the place for this btw..

Im not Trying to be a Smart ass at all, but iv never met anyone that started using drugs and tried getting addicted to them. Addiction runs up on you and then bitchslaps you. lol

Yes sir, all happened to me as well. I know for a fact meth is harder to control just Google search "meth faces" man. People let that crap ruin their lives out on the west coast. I'm kinda glad to live on the east coast but everyone out here is flippin' doin H now.. >.> Don't do it.

Meth is more addicting in how you crave it so badly. But I've done terrible things when I am dopesick, so out of only the pure desperation it causes, heroin is more addicting. I've never craved heroin, even when I was a 3g/day junkie. But everytime I come down from shards, I long for and think of any possible ways to get more. But I can go without it. I couldn't go without black for any extended amount of time when I was hooked.

Never done heroin, but have done a lot of opioids...for me...

Meth-more psychologically addictive...you would not believe how much you can get to where you crave another hit...it's fucking insane...I still crave it almost a year since my last use and 18 months since I was using it habitually...meth craving is like being strapped butt naked to a chair and forced to watch porn for 48 hours straight without getting to bust a nut...

Opioids cause a physiological dependence that make you feel like shit without them, and if you use them for pain, you hurt really badly...

using adderall does not compare to using ampthetmaines im sorry..never tried good heroin but did massive amounts of oxy, opana and dones...it all depends on the person but amphetamines use to be fun, but i think opiates by far grab a bigger stranglehold on that persons life and for way longer, i mean shit when you cant even hold water down when you aint got ur DOC, shit serious lol...mind you for some reason when i withdrawl it nearly kills me
