Recently I stumbled upon a band called Ween due to the attraction two of my freinds have to them. Now at first I was skeptical but now I am truly devoted. Has this happened to any of you? Post your thoughts and discoveries because I'm sure it has. Maybe I can discover new influences from reading this.

every album is amazing... EVERY SINGLE ONE, get the all, get the dvd, see them live... at the moment they are at the top of my list in music. I own every album and every one is impressive in its own way.

Really? This is the same band that did "Push the Little Daisies"?

Take a piece of tinsel and put it on the tree
Cut a slab of melon and pretend that you still love me
Carve out a pumpkin and rely on your destiny
Get in your car and cruise the land of the brave and the free

<3 ween :)

"Really? This is the same band that did "Push the Little Daisies"?"

yes same band, they really are amazing, initially songs like "Push the Little Daisies" may seem obnoxious but believe me once you get into Ween there is NO turning back.

Hey, the flaming lips had that vaseline song too, and they too are an amazing band. I have seen ween 5 times now. Great every time. The best show I ever saw them play was at the Stone Poney in Asbury Park, NJ. They played as "The Jimmy Wilson Boys", which is a name they often play under as far as I understand it. They were just crazy that night...they kept playing and playing and playing...they even pulled some dude out of the crowd who was from Germany and was a rapper. He rapped in German over the furious musical stylinz of the Jimmy Wilson Boys like the fate of the world depended on it. Very intense, but I couldn't help but to find it hilarious...the same thing happens to me whenever I watch porn that was filmed in German too. Such a gutterally funny language.

Mein Lieben!

Ummm...Ween is and has been one of my favorite bands, over the past few years. Check out Drive Like Jehu and Native Nod.

I don't believe this thread is a Ween-only appreciation thread, although they are a great band. I highly recommend the Live in Chicago DVD/CD set. I believe the thread starter is looking for good bands that have been around for a while that you recently discovered. :)

On that note, I'd have to say that Modest Mouse was one of these bands for me. I first heard them back in 2000/2001 shortly before the release of the Moon and Antarctica. I kind wrote them off as being obnoxious. My supervisor at work a few months later had been into the band for years so he started having me listen to some of their older albums such as the Lonesome Crowded West and This is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About. I gave them a second chance, but still wasn't paticularly interested although they had been elevated out of the "suck" category.

Fast forward a couple of years and some recently aquired friends of mine were pretty into them, but I still wasn't feeling it. This past summer, with the release of Good News for People Who Love Bad News finally got through to me. I was obsessed with the album for a good month. After that I began going back and relistening to their older albums with a new appreciation for the band. I'd say that I'm now a fan.

Kind of strange it took me four years to start enjoying a band.

Thanx for the input on WEEN. I love that band. But Finder hit it on the nose. This thread is not only for ween, but any band that has influenced you lately. But the info on Ween is still cool.

From First To Last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check them out everyone, or die!!!! ;)

Emerson, Lake and Palmer did the same thing for me :)

Check out Trilogy everyone if you haven't already.

by the way... where's the mutherfuckin' cheese at? :D

I just edited the topic of the thread as I think this could be a cool one and no one seems to be reading into what the thread is actually about. Hope no one minds. :)

I liked the old topic. It sort of conjured images of an archaeologist carefully dusting off and labeling guitarists.

i just discovered "Team Sleep," Deftones lead singer Chino Moreno's side project. They are a fuse of really, REALLY, slow rock and electronica. Very slow, sleepy feeling like the slower deftones songs. Well the name says it all. Not a bad band but i dont see them every going anywhere.

Team Sleep is awesome, apparenly a release is getting closer but it's already been a few years!

I've just been listening to Snake River Conspiracy. It's... different. Hard rock with a bit of synth and a female singer. First impressions are of Stabbing Westward but with a chick singer.

And before that, Black Sun Empire. A nice drum and bass outfit I know nothing about :)

How about the Dresdon Dolls. Think White Stripes, but more twisted. Its female playing the piano and singing, male playing the drums. Weird lyrics, but catchy and clever.
