What is "EDEN"

What is this new drug, EDEN???
Big bust in QLD, Bummer.
Anyone heard of this stuff???

/ Hahah I posted a thread on this too. Thought I misheard the radio story. Anyway Deleted my thread and added my post here.
I just heard a news story on ABC Classic FM (Its in the toilets ok) about a drug seizure from a yacht. The police claimed they found Ice, amphetamines, ecstacy and the new designer drug called "EDEN"
Has anyone heard of this street name? Is it used instead of some other name??
I did a search but did not come up with anything.

Well, as we know with "street names" for chemicals, the EDEN they refer to could be just about anything. However, the usual compound given the name EDEN is more commonly (and correctly) referred to as either MBDB, or Methyl-J.

Apparently this drug has about 2/3 the potency of MDMA, and is very similar in chronology and effects. Usual dose is of the order of 210mg (quoted in the PiHKAL reference above).

I wonder if we get MBDB as a replacement for MDMA often. Could this explain some of the mystery pills that we can't categorise effectively?

Cheers BT!!!

Interesting point I found was that its another name they dropped when running off a list of what was seized (along with current fave Ice).
Like Mr E. Moore alluded to, I wonder what its been more commonly being packaged as for distribution (pills, powder?!?).

The big question then is how does it test on both the E and E2 testers?

this stuff turned up in quite a few pills tested in Germany a while back. and from memory it will turn purple black on both E1 and E2.
this is from memory, take it with a grain of salt till i get references.

MBDB is included in the catagory "ecstasy like substances" according the ez-test.
So yer, black.

I remember reading about "the garden of eden" which is simultaneously having mdma mdea and mbdb. It's supposed to be the most total and amazing md experience possible.

I'm very surprised they had any MDMA or MDxx substances up the north coast, above brisbane geographically is renowned for its shitty speed bombs and rip-a-toilet-off-the-ground methamphetamine.
Those malaysian guys got done over very nicely, but apparently there was some connection to the gold coast. There's always a connection to the coast

.
As for EDEN - wouldn't be suprised at its common-ness. Unless you GC your gear you could be eating any number of MD substances and think you're getting off on MDMA. Best to test black and eat, then still hope for the best.

noticed tonight (on the late news) they quoted it as being stronger and more dangerous than other 'club drugs'..
how can it be stronger if its 2/3 as potent as mdma?
stupid scaremongering tactics..
i got all excited when i heard the teaser befor the report about a 'new type of speed'.. what a letdown :p

Plus they once again overestimated the street value by about 20% just to make the figure sound good. What are cops on commission these days?!?

channel 10 during the update leading up to it: "and a deadly new form of ecstasy seized on the gold coast", my question is, how many people's death have been attributed to MBDB??? *sigh*

the herald sun has confirmed that 'eden' is in fact MBDB that was seized. In the article it also states most of the pills seized were methamphetamine pills.

They may actually be right when they state it is a more lethal drug than MDMA. As the Herald Sun says that 'Eden is not as stimulating as ecstasy, but more intoxicating.' That can't be good.

Actually, according to erowid MBDB vault, Eden is less intoxicating than MDMA, and does not have any hallucinatory effects like MDMA does. Apparently something to do with an ethyl group sprouting from the alpha chain instead of an methyl group like MDMA. MBDB is also classed as an entacogen not a hallucinogen due to its empathetic properties.
As BT mentioned above, however, the dosage for MBDB is somewhat double that of MDMA for the same or similar effects.

here's the old EZ Test Colour Chart.
oldcolorchart.gif

as you can see MBDB gives a pretty much standard MXXX reaction (doesnt that extra X make it look so porno?)
found this
The MBDB molecule is larger around 1 carbon atom and 2 hydrogen atoms than the MDE molecule. MBDB (N-Methyl-1-(1,3-benzodioxol-ÿl)-2-butylamin) is considered as the strongest Entactogen.
...
From the 71 pill samples aufgefuhrten above 38 (54%) contained only the active substance MDMA, 19 (27%) only the active substance MDE and 3 (4%) an active substance combination of MDMA and MDE. Thus 85% contained MDMA and/or MDE of the samples. The average MDMA dosage was with 117,8 mg, with MDE 108.5 mg. With 3/4 of the MDMA samples the dosage was between 110 mg and 130 mg.
MDA, MBDB and the combination of MDMA and MDA emerged once in each case, 2C B twice into action went. Only 6 samples (8%) contained other active substances, whereby in no sample a poison material was found such as strychnin or rat poison. More frequent such admixtures contained, could not the statement often appearing in the media, Ecstasy pills not be acknowledged and seem into the area of the legends to belong.

german to english translation via google.
this is an analysis of german pills from 96
this is from nicholas saunsders site and is from 1998
'Ecstasy' meant MDMA up to 1991 when many pills appeared like the renowned 'Snowballs' containing MDA. In 1993, MDEA appeared as a substitute, presumably because it was not illegal in Holland, and after that MBDB which was only recently outlawed in Germany. Now the second most common active ingredient is MDEA with MBDB coming third. These drugs are substitutes, but they are similar enough for most users to be unable to tell the difference.
...That leaves 85% ecstasy-type drugs, of which about 60% is MDMA (the real thing); about 20% is MDEA and 10% MBDB.

to summarise, MBDB is nothing new, and we've probably all had it at one point or another. the press is always after a "new" spin on things, and this is just what they want.

Ok, we have ADAM and now we have EDEN, all we need is a "EVE" just to complete the picture.

Eve is already there: MDEA
I think its funny too; whenever there is a new designer drug out it always has to be more potent and more dangerous than the others. Simply not the case.
I presume dancesafe tests for MBDB; and if they do i cannot recall many, if any, such pills.
