Groove Reactor Records and Buckwyld Entertainment Presents:
BACK TO THE BASICS 3
March 1st, 2003
Southwest, Ohio
It's been over 4.5 years now, and we're still going strong. We've thrown massives, club events, intimate events, and we keep coming back for more! On this night, we will revive the series that started it all - BACK TO THE BASICS! This event is exactly that - a return to the old school. We've secured an intimate 1 room venue, an awesome sound system, a killer lineup and the kind of old school atmosphere and decorations that got a lot of us into the scene long ago. We will be giving away hundreds of copies of D8A's newest CD, and we will be powering our evening's visuals with another laser to blow you away.
LINEUP:
KNOWLEDGE: Columns of Knowledge, CT - (www.columnsofknowledge.com) Techno, House, Tribal House - Continuing in our tradition of bringing out the very best of the east coast DJS, it's our pleasure to bring one the biggest proponents of dance music in the USA. A DJ since 1995, Knowledge has his hands in almost every aspect of the electronic music industry. On top of his impressive DJ credentials which includes shows all over the US and Canada, he also runs one of the east coast’s premiere production companies. To date, he has thrown over 75 parties and runs a successful club night in CT. Knowledge has produced material released on K:cid :X and is working on another release for 2003. His first fully licensed CD will be out in 2003 and he will be giving away plenty of free promos of his latest demo - LIVE AT BOO 7. His style is one that fuses together techo, house, progressive and tribal. Knowledge continues to be one of the driving forces behind the success of the east coast movement and it is our pleasure to bring him to Southwest, Ohio. Check out some of his live sets on www.columnsofknowledge.com
ADAM WRIGHT: 4-Score, GSP Entertainment, Katatonic Afterhours : www.4-score.com / www.gspentertainment.com, Nashville, TN - Back in Ohio once again, this mixin' master is ready to throw down like never before. Combining all styles of breaks into his set, you will see for yourself why he took home first place in the Spin Cycle DJ Battle in Louisville, KY last year. His flawless mixing and scratching tactics are sure to leave you in awe. Once he is behind the decks you will know the vibe is alive!
BENBEN: Ill Factor/H-Bomb Syndicate/Isotetrix, NASTYVILLE, TN : www.vinylbeats.net / www.4-score.com / www.theillfactor.com - Ben is coming to you live & direct from Nashvegas bringing you a taste of the innovative ole'school intelligent broken beats. A rising name in the Southeast dnb scene, Ben has shared the stage with such prestigious acts as Ming & Fs, Soulslinger, TC Islam and Dieselboy, to name a few. Ben has spent the last year spreading the rinsed out mash'em up koncrete message with the Ill Factor along with the Spacemen in and around Florida. His Ohio appearance will not be one to miss.
KITSONIK: House, Breakbeat, 2Step, Trance www.unifiedent.com, www.wellknowndjs.com,
www.airplaneclique.com - Cincinnati, OH The Kitsonik sound is a moving progressive blend of Breaks, House, 2Step and Trance. She is known for both her energetic and sassy presence behind the decks and her ability to throw down and almost any style of music flawlessly. There is never a dull moment when she performs and she likes to keep the crowd on their toes by layering different musical genres. This flexibility is also shown through her mixed CDs where she has released 2 House/2Step and 2 Trance compilations, her latest being Hearthouse II.
D8A: SPECIAL OLD SCHOOL ACID HOUSE SET - www.groovereactor.com, Buckwyld - Dayton, OH - Over time, D8A has developed a unique style that always pleases. Ranging from the hardest hitting house and on into harder German techno/ trance, you can always expect to see the crowd dancing during his sets. Tonight though, D8A is preparing a special treat NOT TO BE MISSED. He will be dropping an ultra-rare acid house set with some of those long-ago heard gems and recent underground acid tracks that will truly take you BACK TO THE BASICS. If you were around in the glory days of acid house and like the older styles of DJ Pierre or Terry Mullan, this will be the set you've been wanting to hear!
NELSON: www.glasscityrecords.com / Black Sun Entertainment - Funky Disco House, Toledo, OH - Nelson is one of the biggest supporters and proponents of the NW, Ohio scene and he's developed the scene into something special. Including the launch of his own Glass City Records, his NW, Ohio message board www.glasscityrecords.com and his successful run of club and one-off events, it's no wonder the word is quickly spreading. His funky-filtered house sounds will surely keep everyone begging for more.
MATT ROBERTS: Unpredictable Entertainment / Glass City Records - Techno - Toledo, OH - Matt will be bringing some down the hard techno sounds from Toledo and will be drawing on the Detroit influences who have made the sound what it is today. Plenty of wicked drum codes and percussion, combined with his flawless mixing will surely help to set the tone of the party.
CATNAP vs. DEF LEPER: Mecha Studios - Hardcore, Gabber, Who Knows - Columbus & Springfield, OH - There is no question that when these two take the stage the sparks will fly. Expect to be entertained with audio and visual sensations of hardcore, gabber, and noisecore and a little bit of everything in between. Plenty of people have asked for another tag team between these two see get here early to hear them duke it out!
OOMPA LOOMPA: Trance - Cincinnati, OH - Oompa has made quite a name for himself this past year and the demand to see him spin increases every weekend. He brought some major bombs down at Bumpin and Jumpin 2 and it's our pleasure to bring him in again for some more mayhem!

im looking forward to throwing down some sick ass House Traxx all night long!
Deep into the night with House music!

some questions about this series have been coming up since they have been pretty well spaced out:
Back to the Basics 1 - Oct 1999 - Frankie Bones, Ben Kenobi, Nauti Groove, Manifest
Back to the Basics 2 - June 2001 - Heather Heart, DJ Venom, Matt Freeman, Quantum
we're reviving the series in part because they are always fun parties but also because we're gonna be using a different venue with limited capacity and it will have a darker feel to it...

right right... i can't wait to get up there for the ohio sounds. this will definitely be off of the proverbial hook!! hope to see everyone there.
