New York-based DJ David Hollands brings his celebrated club sound from NYC’s biggest nightclubs to venues around the world, including London, Munich, Buenos Aires, Moscow, and Bangkok. He’s delivered unforgettable nights at the world’s hottest clubs such as Pacha, Limelight, Twilo and Crobar alongside names like Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier.
In the last few years, Hollands has established himself as an industry favorite with his exclusive Sunday night parties at Soho’s Café Novecento. His hot tech-house sound brought together the likes of Moby and DJ Sasha along with the city’s top promoters and a sophisticated New York crowd. Time Out New York called Hollands “one of the city’s top DJ’s” and named the Novecento Sunday night parties a “don’t-miss-destination for the night.”
Besides his club gigs, Hollands served as the musical director and resident DJ for the De La Guarda DJ Connection, a high-flying acrobatic spectacle that fused avant-garde theater with techno. This off-Broadway show brought in DJs like Fatboy Slim and Josh Wink, earning the show a “Best Event” nomination at the
Dancestar USA Awards.
Not content to be merely a DJ and event promoter, David Hollands has been working more and more in the studio doing original productions for both the dance floor and commercial projects. He’s released four records under the “Minimal Wage” label, and he’s been tapped to do remixes and award-winning production work for Nintendo, ESPN and Boeing Airplanes. URB magazine took notice, naming him one of their “Next 100” talents. Most recently, DJ David Hollands has been featured in the Discovery Channel HD and the CMJ Music Marathon 2007
DJ DEANNE
Originally from a small town in Kentucky, DJ Deanne (born Stephanie Deanne Swanson) currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. A child of young parents, Deanne grew up listening to late 70's and early 80's rock, funk, R&B and disco artists like Queen, Aerosmith, Isaac Hayes, Earth, Wind & Fire, Rick James and Donna Summer.
In junior high, Deanne would sit by the radio every Friday night listening to the local college station that was playing the freshest music at the time. Unaware that it would ever play a part in her future, Deanne began developing her "DJ skills" making mix tapes that were nothing more than a collection of the hottest songs recorded from the radio. "I can remember sitting in the dark, past my bedtime, with the music really low, so my mom wouldn't hear me. I would wait for hours for a certain song to come on, try and perfectly time recording the beginning and the ending of the song so that I got every beat. I would record the next song right behind the other with no gaps, commercials or DJ voices. I would just jam to those mixtapes, but always excited to make a new one. It seems pretty lame, but I had no idea that it would later be a part of my life."
In 1996 Deanne moved to Tampa and she got a taste of what club music was all about and what she had been missing by growing up in the Midwest. She immersed herself in the music, trying to find all the tracks she was hearing in the clubs and in the live DJ sets during the weekend radio broadcasts. This continual search for the newest, freshest tracks ignited a fire and unveiled a passion.
It wasn't until she moved back to the Midwest, in 1999, that the pieces started falling into place. She began spinning at the only club in Bloomington, Indiana with a house music format. In the spring of 2003, Deanne moved to Indianapolis and made her Indy debut spinning at the official Indy Pride Festival T-Dance in June 2003. Late in 2003, Deanne landed a prime Friday night weekly mix show slot on Miami-based Energy Internet Radio/EnergyRadio.fm. A few T-dances and special appearances later, she earned a monthly spot in the rotating line-up at Indy's hottest club, Talbott Street, which has hosted talents such as, Paul Oakenfold, Boy George, Chris Fortier, Manny Lehman, Mike Cruz, Twisted Dee, Tracy Young, Kristine W. and RuPaul.
With influences including Chicago house legend, Ralphi Rosario, Junior Vasquez, and Producer/DJ extraordinaire, Peter Rauhofer, Deanne's DJ style is defined by the spirit and energy of house music. Vocal, progressive, underground and tribal beats and rhythms are combined to take her listeners on a unique journey that is marked with sensuality, undeniable energy, and wonderful "dance floor drama". "When I really started going to the clubs and hearing how music was supposed to be played, the best DJ's took me on a musical journey -- a ride. That's what I want for my listeners, a night of music that they remember and come back for over and over again." With weekend attendance at Talbott Street near 1000, Deanne is no stranger to holding a large dance floor captive to her style of mixing.
Deanne enjoys a residency at Indy's hotspot, Talbott Street. Her monthly appearance, Ascension, finds her driving Talbott's dancefloor on the first Saturday of each month. Deanne also makes regular appearances at the South Beach mainstay, Twist. Notable appearances for Deanne include, among others, the 2006 Flight Party in Dayton and Chicago's 2005 Fireball Festival. Her mixshow, FixXxation, can be heard on internet radio stations, Fusion Radio, GayInternetRadioLive.com, PartyRadioUSA.net, and WDA1.com throughout the week.
