Why Do People Remove Coatings And Binders From Pills?

I'm just wondering why haha. I personally never have yet, but will definitely start if it's important. Do you have to remove the coatings and binders before smoking pills off foil? I really like smoking 30 mg blue oxycontin Ms on foil, are there any coatings or binders I should remove before? And also is it best to smoke 30 mg blue Ms crushed up or whole? I've pretty much always just smoked them whole, but am totally open for suggestions. Thank you!

You typically scrape them off to make it easier to crush. Crushed is better than whole to snort imo. Burns nicer

Okay thanks so much for the advice, but why is it important to remove them in the first place? I've always smoke oxys without removing anything and I've been just fine. Lol
