What IS Breakbeat music?

Just trying to settle an argument that I was having with certain people in the chat room
who all believe that my defination is completely wrong. I am now beginning to wonder if there is two types of breakbeat.
Any insights would be apreciated

Only some people in the world seem to think that it is 'a combination of house and uplifting electro-beats' or some crap like that. Anyway, cheers for putting my mind at rest.

Waht about the original Blue Sky Day? Do you consider that to be breakbeat?

A breakbeat is just an irregular rhythm. Such as:
boom chick boom boom chick
Instead of just:
boom chick boom chick boom chick
Hip-hop, jungle, drum n bass, trip hop are forms of these, as well as what people just term breakbeat music.

my def. of breakbeat is an irregular beat (like said b4), it can be in all types of music, house djs can add it to their set, ive heard trance with a breakbeat, D&B, etc....
hope this settles the bet
