I drank some day quil 4 hours ago

But right now I really feel like drinking some beer to fall asleep

I read online that this shouldnt be done

But I'm here to ask all the people that know about liver harm

If I do it just this one time, what's the worse that could happen

Just small liver damage?

Or heavy?

Thanks

Definately don't make mixing Tylenol and alcohol a habit.

That being said it is better to give the Tylenol a head start metabolising because the harm comes from the fact that alcohol increases the proportion of Tylenol that becomes a liver damaging metabolite (effectively lowering the dose that will produce harm).

This effect occurs through enzyme induction by the alcohol (a relatively slow process which takes on the scale of hours to days to occur). A much bigger thing to worry about is taking Tylenol when drinking chronically (even when currently sober), if you are consuming more than a few units of alcohol per day regularly, i would try to avoid taking more than 500 mg Tylenol per day (even in healthy livers 1000 mg Tylenol is enough to induce transient elevations in liver enzymes (markers for liver damage).
