I felt alone, away from my family
Until my neighbour sneezed.

Poe said,

All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

And when I try and understand
You, and you me,
That's another dream,
The problem being we
Haven't rehearsed
And have different scripts.

However there is a common strand
In us all; the theologian sacrifices
All in order to understand it.
He has renounced everything
But there he is, in physical form
Trying to wish away his body,
The host of all his efforts.

God blinks and a civilization collapses
When they open again
There is another
Repeating the same hymns.

A lot of what we say and do is
Meaningless, from a distance
Human endeavour is bacterial.

To understand the mundane reality
Is to heighten the imagination,
And the imagination to tolerate reality.

What is truth,

Amongst all this fiction?

I enjoy and have often shared your sentiment. All I wish to offer is, if your actions are meaningless, doesn't that free you to do whatever you please?

I'm not sure what to do with all that meaningless action, everything feels like a waste of time. I probably think too much and should really just do things instead. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Human endeavour is bacterial.
It surely is...I really liked this. There is a danger in thinking too much about the mundane nature of human existence, and I think there is something to be said for being able to enjoy the experience for what it is sometimes without drawing questions about it...

You're welcome. Raz brings up a good point, too.
