But f33lg00d also makes an interesting point: why is it okay for parents/doctors to give kids ritalin, but not weed?
I would rather have my teenager smoking weed than snorting (or another route) speed.
(Of course, it is best if the kid does not use any drugs at all until age 25 or so, but this is simply not realistic.)
(To be clear, in this case, the mother was not giving the kid weed as a medicine, and the kid was FAR too young for it to be acceptable.)
