Neuroscience Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) shows promise in treating infections

There is also some evidence that curcumin and cholinergic drugs (maybe even the phytochemical huperzine A used in China as a cholinesterase inhibitor nootropic for dementia) can increase the likelihood of survival in sepsis and reduce the risk of organ damage. That could be useful if someone gets that kind of infection from needles when using drugs (or from wounds, urine catheter, etc.) and can't get help immediately, but you still have to go to hospital in that situation because it won't cure without antibiotics.
