i was once told that the heart will harden with time
but i didn't realize it was through bitter experience
that i grew to be something i once hated when i knew innocence;
the product of a specious process i had woven into my consciousness
while i damned the same flaws with my words.

watching the leaves fall and believing that i knew change.
watching the wind blow and thinking i knew progression.
watching the old die and claiming i knew life.

if the evilest satyr knows the cleverest riddles
and the most jovial jester knows the darkest depths of sorrow
then the height of ignorance is found through blind conviction to absolute truth
and maybe Nietzsche was right after all.

I really like it. You've expressed that period in one's life where change, not especially desirable, must take place in a very nice, well articulated way. I particularly like the middle stanza, it created a nice image in my mind. I hope you post some more in the future =)
