Dealers' get drugs tested for FREE in Welsh government initiative to test legal highs

A FREE service set up to test legal highs and save lives is being exploited by drug dealers checking the purity of their gear. The publicly-funded website was created by the Welsh Assembly after calls from the emergency services. They were concerned that many people were taking unknown and often dangerous substances. The site allows users to send in samples to find out what chemicals are in the drugs before they take them.
But dealers have also been using the WEDINOS site – short for Welsh Emerging Drugs and Identification Of Novel Substances Project – which cost £102,000 to set up. Welsh Shadow Minister for Health Darren Millar said: “It’s not just legal highs that this website allows people to test, it’s illegal drugs too. “It’s open to abuse by pushers who can use this as a marketing tool to publicly advertise the purity of their substances and, therefore, increase their prices.”
