The Return is excellent.
The original was campy at times because of all the network shit they (and everybody else in television) had to deal with at times.
Some episodes were excellent, some were just alright, others were pure trash put out there to please the network execs and casual viewers that couldn't wrap their heads around the idea that something other than sitcoms and soap operas could exist on television. In between these highs and lows however, Twin Peaks would occasionally expose us to divine moments of pure, crystalline truth.
The dancing midget, the lucid dreams, the Black Lodge, the Giant, the owls, and Bob were what the show was really about, and whatever you had to sit through to come to these moments was worth it in the end.
Also, Lynch is godlike with the visuals. Nothing gives me the creeps quite like a Lynchian glance at a parallel universe.
And poor Cooper. 25 years. That's fucked. "Hello-oh-oh!"
