It's eye opening to realize that the Russian 'virtue' of smekalka (смекалка) doesn't automatically mean that people will make good choices. Long before tianemtine was being abused in other nations, Russian opiate addicts were IVing the stuff. As others have noted, tianeptine has a tendency to dimerize forming a glue-like material. So IV abuse isn't a good choice.
I presume people already know of Krokodil (крокодил), home-made desomorphine using codeine as the precursor. On one hand it's impressive that people worked out a route, on the other, not bothering to clean the product appears to suggest that smekalka should more correctly be 'the ability to solve a problem at any cost'.
