Trainspotting has great characters, ace music, a lot of humour and it was a very well put together British film. I loved it at the cinema when it was released and have always enjoyed watching it again. Definitely a mark-in-the-sand movie for me! :)

glossary in the back ken? i didnae ken till around page 200. i found myself so frustrated i was heard to be greetin like a bairn;)

Nai, taint nai glossary in the baek likesay, didnae need one ya ken.

It took a little while to get used to the slang, but it's much easier to pick up in Trainspotting compared to reading A Clockwork Orange. Bout halfway through so far, great book (great cover as well, bright orange with a large silver skull), going to have to pick up Porno after.

i'd take that advice @ face value had it not been given by someone who read a sub-par novel twice :)

Trainspotting is brilliantly funny. Instant cult classic and if you've read the novel it's even more of a classic. Doesn't glamorise smack too much and does a great job with comedy in drug life. The soundtrack is great too.=D

on the wikipedia page for the movie it says
Boyle has stated his wish to make a sequel to Trainspotting which will take place 10 years after the original film, based on Irvine Welsh's sequel, Porno. [citation needed]He is reportedly waiting until the original actors themselves age visibly enough to portray the same characters, ravaged by time; Boyle joked that the natural vanity of actors would make it a long wait
anyone hear anything bout a sequel ?

^^^if it even comes out, it is definately not going to be anywhere near as good as trainspotting =(

^ i wouldn't be so sure - have you read 'porno'? it's great.

i think people will always rate trainspotting higher as it came first but porno, for me, was just as good a read.

Trainspotting is surreal, gritty, but true only to a dystopic version of reality. Trainspotting can almost be thought of as a reverse morality play.

'porno' wasn't great...it was an interesting read...but it wasn't even close to being as good as 'trainspotting'

I loved the movie trainspotting it's one of my favorite movies. But the book was much much better. I guess they just couldnt fit all the characters and everything into the movie.

I hope that they make porno into a movie. I didnt think it was as good as trainspotting but is still pretty fucking good. Sick boy is kinda boring though.

^^^true enough...i shouldn't try to impose my pov anywhere...it's just rude =)

i actually just finished porno. i think it's as well-written and engaging as trainspotting but far more light-hearted. i'd love to see it adapted as a film

That sounds great. I'll be sure to pick it up after I finish Filth. I loved Trainspotting, so if it's better I'm not sure I'll be able to put it down :).

^ Ummm... all I have to say to that is... don't let Filth put you off reading another one. I found Filth to be a pretty horrible and unenjoyable read (and I'm a sick fuck). Porno & Glue (& Trainspotting) are 10 x better in my opinion. :)
