took 5mg valium last night, is it safe to take 0.5-1mg ativan later this afternoon?

was reading that it could cause respiratory depression but i figured it’s a pretty low dose of both but i really have no idea. any help much appreciated

The two are pretty much the same drug, and low doses at that. You would be fine. It's mixing BZDs with other depressant classes (alcohol, opioids, barbituates, etc.) that causes potentially severe respiratory depression.
