Too Much or Just Enough?

I've been a pretty avid IV drug user for the past 9/10 years, my DOC always being Oxycontin or Dilaudid. Heroin has just recently came into my life within the past 6 months or so, and I'm not sure how to feel about my experience with it so far. You build an insanely fast tolerance and the buzz is short lived, pretty much. I find if i take a relatively big shot, i immediately fall out. It's hard to judge the timing, but the last time I was sitting with my legs crossed on the floor and set a cigarette to the side to smoke as soon as i take the hit. I woke up some odd minutes later, possibly 20-30 to myself hunched face-forward, hair soaking wet from apparently spilling my cup of water, and needle bent from falling forward with it into the carpet. My eyesight was foggy and hazey... I had trouble walking and stumbled into everything. It takes about 10-15 minutes to recover fully, at which point I'm pretty much completely sober. I have to admit, there's something about that reaction that draws me back, but now I'm concerned it might not be a normal experience and I may actually be doing too much? Has anyone experienced this and do you have any wisdom or advice to offer?

not at all normal, i would say that ain't heroin bro. there is no way you can recover from doing that much heroin in 15 minutes, doing enough heroin to cause effects like you describe would leave you heavily sedated for hours.

Sounds like fentanyl to me. Thats pretty much what happened to me when I got heroin cut with fentanyl.
 
Yep, sounds like fentanyl to me too. And that is definitely an OD.
 
Yeah even in the worst of my addiction I'd be high (while I was still able to get high) for a good 3-4 hours. You are walking a tightrope of death. One of these times you won't get back up,quit while you are ahead!

Very true. Fentanyl (especially in a street powder with no dosage info) is so much more dangerous than heroin. Had a good buddy (a bluelighter actually, has a thread in the shrine now) who shot heroin for more than two decades. One single bag cut with fent ended his life.

I also, shot heroin for years, never had a problem with ODs. Got heroin cut with fent once, did a shot not even that big for me and woke up on the floor 15 minutes later lucky to be alive.

Wow. That was awesome. I was expecting something about fentanyl and heard something about porn instead. My whole world is upside down now.

Agree with others, you folks copping dope have got to be extremely careful with this fentanyl cut shit. And OP it definitely sounds like you took a shot of Fent, or at least some powder with plenty of Fent in it. It's no Heroin but Fent can be fun but the difference between fun and death is not much and it'll jack your tolerance through the roof - too many "cons" or downsides to Fent that for the sake of a different rush/high it isn't worth chasing down, mind you, most of you that end up with Fentanyl heavy "dope" aren't doing it by choice. If you have a killer tolerance from dope and you get a shot of Fent you may be really pleasantly surprised cos you got knocked on yer ass for the first time this year and maybe under the false impression that your new dope guy has fire on hand!

It's bullshit that a dope junkie has to worry about their DOC being cut with Fent of all things these days. Hard enough trying to stay alive with dope habit as it is.
