Opioids Thinking of trying fentanyl - lollipop

Hi,


I'm a 44 year old arthritis sufferer. Have had it for a few years now and no matter what the specialists try, it still hurts like hell when I walk.

So I have been taking a fair amount of codeine which actually helps a lot. I probably take between 300-400 milligrams of codeine every day. Every now and again when I get my hands on some oxycodone I enjoy those too, they work well.
My primary reason for these is as pain killers. Both my feet are fucked with arthritis. However I've always been a recreational drug user and I' quite enjoy the added side effects of what I take.

I have been given three 400 microgram lollipops. Given my daily codeine intake, would these lollipops likely be way, way too strong for me? I'm fairly aware the potency of fentanyl. I have done a bit of reading to make up my own mind.
But I can't find a like for like comparison between 300-400 milligrams of codeine and 400 micrograms of fentanyl, I don't know if that puts me into a very low opiate user category or a higher one, if that makes sense?

Has that amount per day given me any kind of tolerance that 400 micrograms of fentanyl would be considered fairly safe to take without dropping dead of an overdose?

If you only need codeine for pain relief you don't want to take fantanly, it's incredibly powerful, can kill you easily and it'll skyrock your tolerance, so codeine won't do shit for you afterwards.

If you insist on trying it around 200-300mcg should do the trick, but start low, just to be safe

I doubt a 400mcg lollipop will kill you especially since you're not totally opiate nieve but unless you've been moved over to fentanyl permanently I'd agree with KK that it's pointless as fentanyl murders your tollerance. Codeine will do nothing after using fent for a while.

When you say that you were given the lollipops, were they prescribed? If not, going from codeine to fentanyl is a big jump. I knew a lady who had stage four breast cancer and was using them for pain relief. Like kleinerkiffer said, they are quite powerful. After she used fentanyl, oxycodone seemed very weak to her. I would advise you to be very careful.

Just because they are flavored lollypops doesn't make them less potent. Please be careful. Also, weird fact-I've known about four people who had them prescribed post op who had dental problems after use-the sugar and citric acid.

in my opinion, someone correct me if im wrong but, i would suggest working your way up slowly, 300/400mg is a lot for someone just trying to pain relief and no recreational effect, i would suggest trying something like dihydrocodiene or maybe and i hate to say this but morphine, morphine is one of the best of them all for arthritis but i would still say try dihydrocodiene purely based apon the fact your liver cant be thanking you for popping almost 15 pills of codeine, purely as a state of harm reduction i would say try get some dihydrocodiene and start low maybe 15mg and work your way to the point that it helps but fentanyl as everyones previous stated will ruin your tolerance and if that doesnt work for you youll be left with nothing working so id say try somethingn from either the same branch of the opium tree or the other branch either dihydrocodiene or morphine but you need to make the choice yourself, morphine is a hard one to stop so wouldnt be in the nature of harm reduction in the lonng run to say take that but the codeine in such high doses for anyone is bad specially considering its such a weak painkiller, i know so many people who just in a attempt to either get rid of the pain or just plain get high take 500mg with promethazine and that is stupid, but save your body a bit of grief and if you need to take a opiate or opiod then dihydrocodiene probably is best instead pf the second strongest opiod that can be perscribed to a human!!

Be extremely careful. A lot of people who are opiate addicts with large tolerances, have died from fentanyl. Stay safe.

Fentanyl is very strong. Careful with it. Codeine is much lighter than fentanyl.

I am a "recovering" fentanyl and morphine addict (I am an anesthesiologist, and we use what's available to us, which is fentanyl and morphine most of the time, or propofol, but that's another story). I have not touched either one since 2007 (but not until I went to rehab twice, lost my medical license, etc.). The only time I overdosed was on fentanyl. I'm not going to tell you on how much, but it didn't take much to hit the floor with the needle still in my arm. Fentanyl is ~100x more potent than morphine, and at my morphine "peak" I was shooting about 30 mg injectable morphine every 2-3 hours. I WAY overestimated my tolerance when I overdosed on fentanyl.

There's a reason why fentanyl is reserved for breakthrough cancer pain, and while I wouldn't minimize the pain you must feel, if it is still controlled by codeine, you don't need fentanyl.

also, if you are taking only clonodine, then you surly do NOT need fentanyl. just something I know myself form past experience.

fentanyl has been on a killing spree throughout the North East area of the US; so you are much safer if you are to stay away; I have had lost many friends to fent and they continue to drop in/around the Boston/NY area. this is NOT FOR SOMEONE LIKE YOURSELF; someone who has not used very heavily and does NOT KNOW the difference between potent opiates and those that are by far less strong than most, like the clonodine you mention.

read what others wrote and be smart; if I were you I would surly NOT GO DOWN THIS ROAD; esp. since you do not know how to weigh out the difference and I cannot help you either. but the one thing I do know is anyone on clonodine DOES NOT NEED FENTANYL.

Well I keep trying to make my own thread but my phone will not let me, so sorry for hijacking your thread but it involves fent. I have two two 50mcg(now 1) Milan fent patches. I started off the day by taking half of it and quartets since then, started taking the patch at one and finished it at 8, did it by holding under tounge/checking/ and chewing it. I should note I have been on suboxone maintaince for 3 years, the majority of the time taking 8mg a day, yesterday I had 12mg. Now I have a buzz but feel it should be stronger? Or is this due to me being on subs, which I'm assuming it is. I'm not taking anymore today, buuuut is this a normal amount to take for sum1 who has been on subs as long as me? Edit: if I go off my subs and take oxy it takes me 200 plus mg to get to where I want to be. I got these because I know they break thru subs. Have been at wrk totally functional all day.. So again is this normal?

The fact that you take Suboxone, as much 12 mg within the last 24 hours, is probably what SAVED YOUR LIFE. Quit while you're ahead.

I am also a recovering addict but in I was prescribed those lollipops along with buprenex of all things back in the day. Codeine is next to nothing compared to fentanyl. I would say most likely you would live but you could kill yourself. I used to use them until I broke through the buprenorphine and would invariably wake up in the morning with a half used lollipop in bed next to me. I am so grateful my little dachshund never ate it! It would have surely killed him.

That's what I figured. Will put the other aside for when I don't have as much Sub in me. Took these waaaay before I was on sub except they were the 25 mcg an hour and a quarter of one would have me feeling great and energetic. I would get that feeling for an hour or little more then it would go away..any, I didn't just go get a fent strip and pop it in my mouth and start chewing, knew it would take more, but damn... That much more???? Anyway and fuck you for saying for him not to waste his breath it's natural selection... Really?!

This is a waste to chew the mylans....i was prescribed them for almost a year and wearing them and heating is the strongest....oral BA is like 30% for fent I think....and transdermal is 100% bioavailability.

They have the freebase of fent in these patches....they take a few hours to start working so keeping in your mouth you probably just end up swallowing and wasting most of it.

subs will kill the fent high unless you are off them for 3 or 4 days. When I was first put on fent the 2nd day after I put on a 50 mcg patch i would be fucked up, especially if I heated it. The ativis patches sucked balls though they are like half the strength even at the same dose


Pretty much everyone I know that has abused fentanyl has overdosed and died or been revived with narcan. even heavy opioid abusers

Well, mite be a waste but it seemed to work fine, I got that feeling I usually have to pay $200 plus to get was only like 30, I didn't have to skip my sub dose for days till I got sick. Not as euphoric as other opiates but I enjoyed, just saving the other one for when I have less sub in me. I slept great which never happens, and I only took a gram of my phenibut that morning, I usually take 2 grams or a little more. So moral of story, don't fuck with it if yr just use to codiene.. I'm on 8mg of suboxone and could feel a piece of a strip if that tells u anything

i just quit using FEN 2 weeks ago. i was up to around 4G a day. it took me about a year of straight FEN use to get a T like that but it has absolutely killed my rec drug fun. since then i went to a psych ward for 4 days to start my detox then since that i been using about a tenth a day for maintenance so i dont get sick. i took 12 OXY 7.5s the other day and felt absolutely 0. i dont feel anything off the tenth of H im doing either, but my brother will be totally wrecked. so if anyone does read this and is thinking about moving to FEN, DONT!!! it does not offer the same euphoria as H or OXY.

damnit, now im thinking about that nice white powder and how clean the taste is. shit.

Be VERY careful. A friend once offered me a fentanyl lollipop (I don't know the MGs) so I gave it a try. I thought I was going to die. I'm not a heavyweight or a light weight when it comes to drugs but this scared the living hell out of me. When my pain doctor wanted to put me on fentanyl patches for a few weeks it was nothing like the lollipop. I know the doses were different but something about those suckers. If you can skip taking any fentanyl for pain...do that. After reading around here it seems to be a very nasty drug.

Is there a way to extract the fent from matrix patches? Was gonna cut off little quarter piece or less d then plug the solution to get the most out of the one I have left.. Note I'm on daily suboxone, was thi linking about cutting ea h quarter I to tiny pieces then let soack in water, occasionally pressing Down hard on patch to get the fent out. They are the non gel ones. Cents water soluble so I figure this would work.. Don't worry I'm not plugging a whole patch at once, starting with a quarter, squirt half the solution up there then wait. Again would start my own thread but phone will of let me.
