Thanks Ali, but why rank it by percentage? What's stopping someone only picking one or two wide favourites a week and topping the comp at 90%? If you don't pick a game it should count as a loss
 
because most people are picking every game every week. the others will drop off or people can filter out the pretenders themselves. it's hardly "official". you can score next time and do it however you like? :)

nice picking, btw. do you ever bet on football? i like to try to get a 4 or 5 game parlay on each week just for fun.

I grew up in a family of illegal SP book makers and horse dopers. I was running stings on bookie rings from aged 18. As a result I don't believe in any form of sports betting unless I am in on the take.
 
I bet none of us could get higher than a 52.4% win percentage betting on the spread
 
I take that back maybe one or two of us could do it. But I guarantee nobody could get higher than 56%

52.4% is break even point for betting on the spread
 
Maybe we should try it? I thought about the same thing and was thinking it wouldnt even be 50% but I am not a gambler so I'll take your word for it.
 
I actually wanted to make the thread, but didn't want it to kill the pick em thread (even though I don't think it would)

The one thing we'd have to do though is skip Thursday games and pick the spread on Saturday night so we are all betting on the same spread cause lines usually change throughout the week until Saturday, and usually don't see any change form Saturday night to Sunday kickoff. (In football)

Probably would want to do at least 100 picks minimum to get an accurate result
 
nice. i would be into a spread pick 'em thread.

scoring's a pain so maybe we can agree to all take a turn scoring?

Id be down. We she really do that anyway Alasdair in regards to scoring.
 
^ I think scoring would be a lot easier if we didn't only bold the choices. If we put our choices in a list, it would be pretty easy to create an Excel template that we could just paste the responses into and get the number of correct answers.
 
Spreads come up in this thread every year. We've tried to keep pick'ems simple so anyone can participate but if you guys wanted to start a separate thread that'd be fine.
 
Yahoo! has a Pick Em league. If you want, you can set your league to be against the spread. It's free and it obviously does the scoring for you.

I thought about doing the same when I heard he was out. But, I still had faith in Jacksonville's ability to suck. Jacksonville up by 3 at the half.
