The Fugitives

We live between heartbeats
Inside black holes nailed to walls
I watch you carve the ravins
Into arms of silence then clasp my hand
And I'm fettered like Phoenix
Your invisible ties bind me the same
We bond over habits
They're worse than bad
like a tall glass of sand
Tonight I hijacked the moon
and held stars at gunpoint just for you
"But would you die for me?"
Your voice grows distant in our king-size bed
I asked you to dance
as crickets stridulate sonatas for us
They say we age in our dreams
So we lie awake like restless ghosts 'til dawn
We keep a foot in the grave
to be able to say that we don't care
We pretend we're in love
Or whatever it is that makes us feel weak
I turn to petrol on bad days
You're a box of matches, together we burn
Drag your past like a boulder
and tread the wheel of time like it's a race
You said it's like a movie
where no one can tell who the bad guy is
I said let's pray for anoxia
It would be romantic in a Shakespearean way
We watch vespertine flowers
and get naked to dress
each other in thorns

We live between heartbeats
and wait impatient as our black hole caves

felt like you were really flowing through this section in particular. Awesome possums.
