yes but in a finite amount of space and matter there still is a finite sum of possible perceptions.

I don't think that this is true. Cognition (including perception) is arbitrarily extendable. There are an infinite number of ways in which the universe could "perceive itself". I guess I was sloppy in sorta think of possibilities as things, if only there imminently/latently.
