Has anyone ever transitioned from subs to methadone here? Reason I ask is I came clean with my provider that I been abusing the adhd meds and suboxone I have bewn running out early and this time I really messed up and ran out 5 days early.

So they are making me do methadone starting Monday. I look forward to it because I’ve been managing by using kratom but doesn’t work great but does help yet I can’t take my bipolar meds with it because I worry about metabolic enzyme inhibition from kratom so here I am manic again up at 130 today.

My doctor said that there is no waiting period for methadone but I did t think that was true and she doesn’t run the methadone program. Don’t you have to stop opioids before taking methadone at treatment centers for a period of time? She told me no.

Also, did you notice a big difference? I was on methadone before but only got up to 60ml and it wasn’t very helpful to be honest so I’m having doubts.

I seriously need some adhd meds but my psychiatrist didn’t think that mixing it with my Suboxone would be a good idea. Lame doctor 😒

They don’t even interact in a bad way at all. I mean the worse thing is prolonged QT but that’s nothing. Drinking water can change your QT rhythm.

More likely, he just doesn’t like writing them but idk him.

I hate adhd meds nowadays though and will not go back on them. I turn into a stim and porn machine and feel disgusted after

I have been on 60 mg methadone
I am currently on 20mgs/day methadone
But I would have to wait a very long time to ensure no precip withdrawals
I can take kratom, hydro, oxycodone, tramadol, or more methadone at a moments notice if I want to get high.
From methadone to subs is risky waiting long enough.
Subs to methadone should not require waiting at all ; but might not be as effective as the subs slowly leave your receptors

Well, that’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s just a side effect for you lol. And yes, my dr is a lame for sure. I wonder if my sub dr could help me because he’s awesome.

Stimming? Is that where someone taps their foot ect? Because I do that constantly already. And I always have to rub the end of my toes on the floor. I know I have adhd but I’m undiagnosed. I can’t stay consistent or concentrated for shytttt.

nah if I said stim im talking about being on stimulants.

If you have adhd and don’t have a stimulant addiction then you should be able to get it prescribed. If you are in USA you just have to find a sictir that’s willing to and yes I’d try my sub dr that’s who always wrote mine. I’ve had two different sub drs do that from different clinics.

I can’t take them though because I abuse them no matter what I do to prevent it.

Ahhh okay, that makes sense lol. I’m really not too informed on stimulants. Yeah, I’ve never been prescribed them before so it shouldn’t be a problem. But I have this terrible fear of asking for medication because it might be seen as a bad thing. I really need to get over it cause it does more harm than good..

Awh, I hate that for you. 😢 I find with the subs in my system I don’t feel shit from other meds.

You can take methadone just after using suboxone with no issues. The problem is going from methadone to suboxone and that can be easy with microdosing.
Suboxone gave me bad anxiety so I wasn't on it long.
For pain methadone was better imo. I also found it helped my mood. I was less anxious and slept much better.

Do they still make people come in daily to get their methadone?

And daily piss tests?

I really wanna switch. Subs are just not cutting it for me anymore. But going to a clinic every single day just to take my meds doesn't seem viable to me.

I also hate peeing in public & often can't even do it. So having to pee daily would just make me so pissed & anxious.

I'm afraid if I switched & then couldn't handle going in every day or had a car issue or whatever, then I'd be screwed with no suboxone or methadone.

But some of the pros to being on subs is being able to do split dosing if I want. And I can take my meds before I need to drive or go anywhere for the day.
I really hate that they put all these barriers up just for some one to get fricken methadone.

Don't know your city but here in Canada you go daily but start getting carries each clean urine sample and we get a urine test weekly
If you sample twice a week you get carries quicker.
I've noticed the majority of America makes it really hard to access and to many useless rules.
We do split dosing here. When I was on it instead of raising my dose I split it and didn't need the increase

There are too many regulations in US.

I have to do three therapy sessions a week just for methadone. Let alone the trauma therapist I see on my own but I need her help.

These others tho are jokes. I end up hearing all about their problems and end up counseling them lol. I hate it mostly because I don’t want to pay 300 a week when my insurance restarts just for therapy that isn’t even helpful.

Going to talk to the de tomorrow to see about going down on therapy bc no way I can afford that

On the flip side I wonder how many ppl would OD being it’s a full agonist if we didn’t have some kind of regulation. I don’t mind dosing at the clinic. It’s the costs that bother me. No way I can pay 1200 a month or would for useless therapists. Fake therapists I feel like they are students. And full price

Other place I was looking at switching to wanted me to pay them 50 bucks to process my in network insurance. To verify benefits like wtf . I’m not paying your employees to do there job. Who does that

Don’t ask for the meds directly. You just explain your symptoms and they will respond with meds. Asking directly appears like drug seeking to them usually. And I know it’s not that for you bc you need them but they get conned alot

Damn.

Yeah I guess I won't be switching to methadone any time soon.

The last time I had a pee test for subs was back in like August or September. And I was so anxious that day, that I almost couldn't pee. My bladder likes to freeze, especially if I feel like everyone can hear me or I can hear them (which I could hear everyone in the waiting room laughing & talking). I almost quit my sub treatment right then & there. Thankfully I was eventually able to coax it out.

So I definitely wouldn't be able to pee multiple times a week. Nor go to therapy multiple times a week. That would drive me nuts.

I'm the type of person who needs to take their subs & let them kick in, in the morning, before I can even get up & drive to the store. Let alone drive to a clinic just to take my meds.

America doesn't give two fucks about solving or fixing anything regarding opioids. They just wanna keep making them harder & harder to get, while Republicans cry about going to war with Mexico over fentanyl. Yet they won't even expand opioid maintenance access, because it's really about removing your rights to be able to take opioids.

Sick of this shit.

Wait a fuckin minute, you're telling me they are charging you $1,200 a month just for Methadone?! I have never, ever heard of such a thing in my entire life. I've heard of clinics charging $130/month. I thought even this was totally insane to be charging people. I've also never heard of 3 counseling appointments per week. How is a person supposed to do that if they have other obligations? The most I've ever heard was one therapy per week at the beginning of treatment and 1 counselor appointment per month. There will be some random stuff here and there as you get started. What you're describing is on another level.

Did they tell you how long this would go on for? I guess if it were only for one month that could be managed. The price though is still ridiculous. Are they not aware of who their clientele are?

You mentioned another program. It would be good to look into that and see how they differ. It would have to be better than this current place.

That is completely fucking insane, I may not reside in the same place as you but I'm sure there has to be a better place to go if not for cost all around.

Same here. I can’t even function unless my subs have fully kicked in. I’m a ball of nerves otherwise. The subs are like my anti depressant/anti anxiety and mood stabilizer for me 😅

Yeah, I have a feeling that I won’t even feel the adhd medication. I don’t even feel a line a coke to be fair lol

Very much so for me as well.
All opioids have an antidepressant effect that works on me, better than anything else on the planet. And generally with less nasty side effects unlike SSRIs/SNRIs.

Yes for me too. And I am wondering is/has it partly been because many opioids are like SSRI/SNRIs or befofe I assumed my opioid system has just been dysregulated from buperty or age of 15-16. But I am now thinking serotonin also might play a minor role (but it has never ever been helpful on its own - none of the SSRIs without opioidergic activity have ever helped for anything).

Buprenorphine, methadone, tramadol and tianeptine has worked very good for me. And still they are the opioids that work best for me. And those are also the opioids that increase serotonin the most. Oxycontin and codeini I like very well too but they have never been functional aids for me. On the other hand, especiallly Tramadol helps in that regard very much. Also buprenorphine, Methadone and Tianeptine work.

I am now asking about Methadone and Tramadol interaction. Has anyone used Tramadol with Methadone? Will serotonin be an issue? Or how long would would you wait till dosing Tramadol after Methadone? Tramadol has so short half-life that you can dose whatever 24h after it but Methadone has more variable&long half-life even though I suspect I am fast metabolizer of it..

Have you taken Tramadol with Methadone? If so, with what doses? I am interested because I would also need to combain those 2 but I am not sure about serotonin interaction with Tramadol&Methadone as both inhibit serotonin uptake. Is there risk for serotonin syndrome and with what doses?

I am especially sensitive to serotonin as I once or twice had too much serotonin from high dose DXM combined with Tramadol. I do not want it again.
