Let's see:
I've been involved with quite a few women who like to be spanked and otherwise disciplined. I've done it a few times on e but don't find it to be the right drug for the mindset BDSM elicits. We've often been in public, sometimes at clubs and parties that are specifically for playing, sometimes wherever the mood strikes.
I've 'escalated' all the way to whips and restraints (though I prefer the restraints part to the whip part), but it depends on the situation. Freud brought up a lot of things to think about, but he doesn't hold up as well after the thinking.

Liquid, it's not really the music, it's the people and the atmosphere of the party/club. Most of my friends are a lot more okay than the average person with stepping over normal sexual boundaries, whether in what you do, who you do with, or where you do it. Different ideas of proper behavior, more experimental lifestyles; things like that.
I find the acceptance and open-mindedness of the people in the sexual underground is very similar to that of the raver code of PLUR, but that each group has decided to focus on a different area of behavior to elevate to defining status.
