Severe intenstinal pain rapid reduction in pain with nicotine?

At the hospital when I went for severe intenstinal pain they took a scan and it showed nothing. But they gave me bentyl some muscarinic antagonist which did seem to help. But, today I had similar spastic cramping pain and took 0.33 - 0.5 ml of nicotine 24 mg per ml on my gums and it worked atleast equally well if not better. But
That is a muscarinic agonist. So, does nicotine help intestinal pain ?

Thanks for the link very interesting I think it might have more to do with the ability to ignore pain if that makes sense
