Misc Seroquel - sleep paralysis; anyone else get this?

Yes i know exactly what youre talking about withe the seroquel induced sleep paralysis - i too have experienced this. I too am afraid to take seroqu and have not taken it for 2 years. During my meth phase i had it nearby in case i felt that any psychotic episode was too overwhelming. In the end i never once took it, because i felt that the mindset induced by seroquel were far darker than anything induced by meth. So you can see how much i hate this med. I too am a hardcore insomniac (on or off recreational drugs). The only difference is that seroquel usually doesnt knock me out.

What does knock me out? I usually rely on a cocktail, but i find these very useful, abd easy yo get from docs (drs wont prescribe me hypnotic
bemzos either)

High dose lyrica. Even if it doesnt knock me out, it makes me feel good and physically and mentally relaxed that i dont mind missing out on sleep. If i have.t had sleep, and i take lyrica the next day, its the only thing that makes me feel normal, lile ive slept 8
hours

High dose baclofen. Its a bit gross (nausea and delerium can ensue) but it makes me sleep like the dead. This is a gaba b agoninst so they prbably arent very downregulated for you.

Now out of the drs hands i recommend these with high caution:

Since youre already using hydromorphone, heroin is better for insomnia. It lasts longer and is more sedating.

Ghb also.

If used responsibily these drugs could be less harmful than seroque. But they could also be more harmful if addiction ensues. But i am sure you know this.

well i try not to use hydromorphone lol. After taking 50mg of hydroxyzine yesterday my allergies broke out like nuts today and i still have hives but i'm not sure what's causing it, probably just the season changing here. Anyway, just to check i took 75mg of seroquel to sleep tonight instead. I'm still wide awake hours after but my eyes are dry and i'm tired but fucking heart just beats fast and i can't sleep.

i think it's just related to my hydromorphone binge and then maintaining with codeine. I know i can't really push using opiates more than a day or two without getting insomnia, so it's my own fault.

I'd try ghb but i can't get gbl or ghb here and it's probably bad news for a benzo junkie; thought of etaqualone a bit too but i hear it's just shitty. I've taken 20 grams of red borneo kratom, too much etizolam, 7.5 of zopiclone, plenty of benadryl (allergy reasons) tonight as well as escaline, which isn't that stimulating and i still have god damn allergies, can't sleep and feel more fucked in the head than i did when i was peaking on escaline.

baclofen and lyrica would be fine with me but my dr. will not prescribe them to me. I must have drug seeker junkie piece of shit written all over me or something because my gf has the same issues and gets z-drugs, benzos, and ritalin no problem. I'm surprised i got hydroxyzine from my doc, i kind of insisted on it but it's a decent antihistamine, i really fucking hope i'm not allergic to it or something though.

Well u r in canada. You could go to a walk in clinic and not report this to yourdr. Dress conservative. Should not be hard to get if you go to the right clinics. You dont have to lie just dont mention ur substance abuse history. Dont give up if the first one says no
The baclofen should be easier than the lyrica. Another easier to get alternative to lyrica is gabapentin

Can you switch drs? My dr knows about my meth abuse so somw meds are off limits but hes at least fair in scripting me stuff... being condemened to life on seroquel is worse than life on most addictive drugs .

Edit: i dont know if youre aware but high dose dailybaclofen is used in addiction medicine. It has no real abuse potential, in fact it inhibits dopamine. When i have taken it, i do not feel like taking drugs of any kind. Its not that i feel high from the baclofen and dont wan to get higher (the feeling is quite subtle and neither pleasant or unpleasant), its that the desire is reemoved. You could research it and approach your dr with this info

thanks for the info; baclofen sounds like a reasonable option but i never know with my Dr. he likes to put me on fucked up medications for some reason. Walk in clinics will not prescribe anything gaba related here. I'll probably just get a referral to a psychiatrist and perhaps a sleep study done to figure out what the fuck is actually going on. At this point, it's definitely minor opiate withdrawal so i'll just wait that out and work on getting my etizolam down to a reasonable dose.

i wonder if other gaba-b agonists would be helpful in lowering my etizolam dose though, like maybe phenibut or gabapentin (can't get lyrica). Again though i don't really have enough self control not to abuse both together and end up with another drug into my polydrug addiction. I've seen addiction 'specialists' in the past and they are of no help and don't seem to know their shit at all about benzos or opiates.

in any case, hydroxyzine works about as well as seroquel without the terrible side effects, so i'm happy with that for now. I know tolerance to it will rise and rise and i'll be fucked over again at some point probably but that's the fun of treating insomnia. If i can just stick out this minor irritating opiate withdrawal/insomnia/RLS shit for a few more days it should be gone and as long as i can stay away from stims/psychs for a while i should be somewhat normal.

hydroxyzine still gives me sleep paralysis but it's not frightening like seroquel, i guess it's the opiate withdrawal and the antihistamine together that creates this sleep paralysis, i don't know how or why but would definitely be interested in the pharmacology of this.

Hello - I am new to this group. At any rate, I have taken seroquel off and on for insomnia for 3 or 4 years. I find that initially I can maybe take up to 25mg with not much side effect. Generally however, if I take it at all now I take about 1/4 of a 25mg tablet to start with. If I am not sleeping within 30 minutes I take another 1/4 and so on. I find this drug has a cumulative effect, that if I take it for several nights in a row, I get bad hallucinations and have a hard time waking up. I must also say that if I have a bad sleep with the stuff, my next day is a write off. Therefore, I take it incrementally as described. Maybe this will work for someone out there or someone finding similar problems. I believe that one's ability to cope with this drug is in correlation to the patient's age.

I?ve had seroquel sleep paralysis where I was awake, was able to move my arms and grab my phone, but couldn?t move my legs. Before ever being on seroquel I?ve had full on sleep paralysis so I already knew what it was like, but this was different bc this time I was awake, eyes open, fully conscious, and half of me could move and the other half couldn?t. It only has happened once, and I still take seroquel because my sleep sucks if I don?t. Still afraid from that episode thought
