At a club I frequent, in the US (Texas, to be exact) security guards often search people. I was just wondering if this is legal? What if the person does not consent to the search?

Thanks.

Its a private establishment, they can impose reasonable conditions for entering their premises. If you don't consent they can turn you away all they want. The fourth amendment does not apply to private actors, only to state actors.

I doubt anyone is forcing you to go to the club, you can always decline the search and go elsewhere. If you want to go on their private property, one of the conditions may be that you are subject to a search.

Same deal with concerts, airlines, etc.

Yeah, if they ask to search you just tell them you didn't know that was part of the deal with going to their establishment and let them know you're leaving and don't plan to come back.
