So I've had this happen a few times. I've taken Xanax (no more than 1mg, usually .5mgs) and fallen asleep, then throughout the night I had a recurring dream about having sleep paralysis. I'm aware that it was a dream because when it happened I was in a different setting, etc so I knew it was fake and not reality. In the dream I found myself unable to move or speak and I was just laying in bed trying to scream or move my limbs but nothing was helping, and I partially knew that I was dreaming so I was trying to scream in hopes that it would wake me up and make the dream stop but I couldn't do anything. Eventually the dream would end with me finally being able to move or scream, but then if I fell back asleep the dream would keep happening over and over. I've woken up screaming as a result of trying to scream in the dream. Not fun. 8)
I've had actual sleep paralysis happen to me before a few times 10 years ago when I was forced to take Geodon in the psych ward, but I've never had it happen since then. So I know what it feels like to have sleep paralysis happen for real, and this is definitely different and only a dream. Still terrifying because I get scared that I'm going to get stuck in the dream or something.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this sort of experience on benzos? Its frustrating because I know this isn't real sleep paralysis that is happening and it's just a dream and I don't know why it's happening. This is a relatively recent thing to happen to me. It's never happened on any other benzo. I only take xanax occasionally and it doesn't always happen, but has happened probably 3 times now.
I hate sleeping and I always have, but this just makes it even more scary.
