Recommend me some decent news sites, if yer can folks.

Bored of reading the same news-for-entertainment piss-poor level of reporting al la le BBC.

Also, preferably not Murdoch related sites if possible

News specific/specialist sites also appreciated .. areas: tech, environment, wildlife ..

Cheers <3

In the absence of any decent news places to read, I've been side tracked into reading this fodder ...

^^ su'real! Sounds like they had a blast. the twitter feed's where it's at. s'been number 1 in the Top 5 all week

Also, decent forum recommends if you have any. not troll sites. anyone remember Brawl Hall? that place was forum reject city

more general hedonistic type social ones if you please

http://rt.com (good but take with the same pinch of salt you would any news site)
http://www.antiwar.com (news aggregator, best site if you have an interest in whats going on in the world but it can have some quite depressing stories. lots of good insight into international politics. it links to loads of different news sites so plenty to read if youre bored)

i've given up on the bbc as its just utter garbage and i dont give a fuck about whatever celebritiy has done whatever pointless crap)

even the guardian these days is turning right wing and CIF is depressing as fuck.

I actually like to read the really blatantly biased websites, too, such as China Daily, Pravda, PressTV. Also, for a laugh KCNA for the DPRK. It's just interesting to see how the different countries' news presents the same stories. I haven't went on politico in a while as it's the same old shite.

I do watch The Young Turks a bit, too. It's not so much news as news commentary, and Cenk Uygur can annoy the hell out of you with his shitty annoying catchphrases.

express&star.com

youll never need another source for watsgwan in Wolverhampton.

I find the mainstream news sites tend to fall down by either pushing their own agenda or being factually incorrect, often employing people who have no idea of the topics they are actually reporting on.

For me, fox news manages to excell on both counts. Impartial news delivered by some of the most clued up people in the business.

Fox news is where I get my unbiased info from...

GO GLENN BECK or that other one who looks like a Barbie Ken doll... love that shit

These will be typically lefty biased i'm sure (but still better news than the normal media): medialens message board, counterpunch, information clearinghouse, intercept, znet, the saker's vineyard,

Anything by Nafeez Ahmed (though he does bloody long articles) - (lots listed here)

Video news: realnewsnetwork (canadian), democracy now (american), telesur (south american)

Some journalists within the msm that i often read: (for the lefties) milne, jones, and omnibot (obviously), also patrick cockburn, robert fisk (independent); Peter Oborne (conservative) does good articles; Ambrose Evans-Pritchard (times?) is worth reading on economics (some excellent articles on greece). Even Peter Hitchens does the occasional good bit of journalism (if you can put up with the bile towards the 'permissive society')

Bought the Guardian and also Independent today to read while waiting around all day to bring folks home from hospital. Noticed the Frisk moniker a couple times so I'll make sure to pay it some attention in future, tah Vurtual

'salright. Fisk specialises on middle east and is (usually) a very good independent journalist, as are peter obourne and ambrose evans-pritchard (i'd much rather a good conservative journalist than a supine faux lefty one (like mostly inhabit the guardian)) (incidentally the only paper i've ever paid money for is the morning star)

It's amazing/worrying how often people end up on a naturalnews page when they start googling an illness - confirmation bias in action i guess (i suppose we secrectly want our illness to be big pharma's fault rather than our own) - that said i have sometimes read some actually true articles there, but you have to check the sources to find the less sensational version (or more often to find out it's just bollocks). Sometimes it actually is big pharma's fault (or maybe a big farmer) - though i suspect that it could be worth big pharma actually funding a site like this to discredit its opposition (ooh, it's a meta-conspiracy (so much cleverer than all those other conspiracies ;)))
