im 2 days clean from PMO(porn/masturbation/orgasm)and tbh i feel great but could just be placebo. ive heard it can be very beneficial(increased sex drive, increased testosterone/ just generally more drive for chicks and life). i really want to masturbate though and dont know if im just suffering for no reason lol

I don't know about you but no sex/orgasms just makes me cranky!
Admittedly though my orgasm is always much more intense when I haven't gotten off in a while.

well i went a week without an orgasm recently while on holiday with low stress.

makes you fancy people insanely. not much else.

also due to no porn everything else is hotter

Isn't masturbation actually healthy for one's prostate?

Depends on your frequency and prior history. Someone who jerks once or more a day, everyday, for years, is going to notice a greater improvement in vitality than someone who does it less frequently. Takes a lot of energy to generate your spooge.

I've tried it.. and seconding what MissVL said it just makes me irritable.. sex takes up so much of my thought process that i need that orgasm more so to clear my mind.

When i'm in a relationship and getting regular sex, there's very little energy expended on thinking about it.. im more motivated and driven to focus on other areas of my life, projects, writing, work etc. But when im single the same applies for masturbation.. if i go without for too long it just consumes me and i can't focus on anything else. In my opinion there's more benefits to stopping porn then there is to cutting out masturbation all together..

Plus as long as im living in the west and exposed to a hyper-sexual culture it's going to be monumental task to stop masturbating.

I don't think there is anything wrong with masturbation unless you get addicted to it (there are enough people on here that seem to be hardcore habitual masturbators), you spend money on porno, or you own a trench coat for the purpose of masturbating in the video viewing stalls of the porn shop or worse places.

I know this chick and she posts articles about how pornography ruins your sex life and gives people unrealistic expectations out of women and shit like that. I am thinking "Damn girl you could be spending this time working out and planning a diet because you used to be hot before you started packing on the pounds." She is a childhood friend so I really have no choice but to keep her on facebook, but man for someone with a really fancy college degree she is on some dumb shit.

Why do fat chicks hate porno so much? (other than the fact I would rather jack off than fuck fat chicks given those circumstances, either way its not gonna happen so stop blaming porn and start blaming yourselves)

If you lift weights It'll help in a positive way.

Still dont see see a reason to quit it though lol.

Maybe be if your single it'll drive you harder to get a girlfriend

Possibly negated by the increase in prolactin:

Orgasm-induced prolactin secretion: feedback control of sexual drive?

Abstract
Recent studies from our laboratory have investigated the hormonal response to various forms of sexual stimulation, including film, masturbation, and coitus in both men and women. This series of studies clearly demonstrated that plasma prolactin (PRL) concentrations are substantially increased for over 1h following orgasm (masturbation and coitus conditions) in both men and women, but unchanged following sexual arousal without orgasm. Here we discuss evidence suggesting that the PRL response to orgasm may play an important role in the control of acute sexual arousal following orgasm. Supporting this position, chronic elevations of PRL (hyperprolactinemia) produce pronounced reductions in animal sexual activity, and significant reduction of libido and gonadal function in both men and women. These data suggest that PRL may represent a peripheral regulatory factor for reproductive function, and/or a feedback mechanism that signals CNS centres controlling sexual arousal and behaviour. Thus, we propose a theoretical model of the role of PRL as a neuroendocrine reproductive reflex.

An interesting look at prolactinergic and doperminergic mechanisms post orgasm:

Prolactinergic and dopaminergic mechanisms underlying sexual arousal and orgasm in humans

Abstract
Dopaminergic mechanisms play a major role in modulating sexual behavior in humans and animals. Animal data demonstrate important interactions between the dopaminergic and prolactinergic system. As recently demonstrated, dopamine agonists have facilitatory properties for penile erection but may also enhance sexual drive and orgasmic quality. In contrast, chronic elevations of prolactin inhibit appetitive as well as consummatory parameters of sexual behavior. Recent human studies show a marked increase in prolactin after orgasm in males and females. Concerning the biological relevance of acute prolactin alterations after orgasm, prolactin might serve as a neuroendocrine reproductive reflex for peripheral reproductive organs. Alternatively, prolactin may feedback to dopaminergic neurons in the central nervous system and thereby modulate sexual drive and satiation. Here, we provide a brief overview of the physiology of dopamine and prolactin in regulating sexual behavior. In addition, recent experimental and clinical evidence for a postulated feedback mechanism for prolactin and its implications for orgasmic disorders are discussed.

My notes:
The theory is that post orgasm, there is a nulling of sensitivity of dopamine to external stimulus. I am a firm believer in this, however it's a heated debate topic.

I think that sex has a much different psychological effect than masturbation, causing it to have less of a negative rebound effect on motivational factors like your pleasure neurotransmitters. I believe that person to person contact has a lasting after effect that nullifies the negative after effect of an orgasm. (Just a thought)

Jack off if you want... I know for a fact that not masturbating has lead to me being less anxious in social settings and more ambitious overall.

A good wank when you feel horny is always good for you, otherwise you'll feel frustrated and moody. Have a wank, then lay back and have a daydream, a light nap, then get up and eat some protein.

Natural rhythms of the body, that's what it's all about.

Renz: I suspect that this might have to do with repressed issues about "self-pleasuring"... Whether or not it is a fact that you're less anxious socially when you're not masturbating, doesn't mean that it's a fact that everyone is less anxious... It also depends on sex-drive... The confidence that you get from having elevated levels of testosterone in your system, due to less frequent orgasms than someone who masturbates, might also contribute towards the reduction of your anxiety levels; but, that indicates that underlying anxiety issues are already present and doesn't necessarily apply to everyone... As for ambition, maybe Bill Gates wouldn't have created the empire that he did if he got laid more in high school: but, that doesn't motivate me - personally - towards putting limitations on my sex-life..

There's quite a lot of evidence suggesting that having an above average number of orgasms decreases the likeliness of premature erectile dysfunction and - since it is such a huge problem with men over 60 - I'd rather double down, so to speak, and keep my cock as active as possible. This applies even more so to men who are circumcised (thankfully, I am not) since circumcision - too - leads to erectile dysfunction.

Oh 2 benefits are that you don't get hair on the palm of your hand, and you don't go blind. In the Netherlands you won't go deaf either.
But to be serious regular masturbation is good for you, particularly the prostate. You should do it once a day.
