Hi, please do not bump old threads if you aren't adding something very useful to them. And please use the edit button as to not make three posts in a row.

Quaaludes were indeed the best...it's amazing and crazy that no one has brought it back....it would be wildly popular today as it was 40 years ago.....S

Im here in South Africa where you can apparently still get real Mandrax, never tried it as apparently the local product can only be smoked, and I dont really smoke drugs but hell the constant mentions of the legendary "Quaaludes " makes it difficult to resist.
Ill try some in Jan and report back with effects to see if they are in fact real in some way.

Tried one 714 in 1980. A cross between a benzo and a barb. Becareful, i fell a sleep after the relax and uphoria, was great then but if you have no tolorance "be careful"! More powerful than 100mg of valiume or more and the 160 oxy of today! I am a male 53 years old & have used nothing for 15+ years. It would knock me out if not od me now...

Feel free to contact as i have done my research, in its hayday and on line now. I will build my profile in a day or so.

Vic respectfully~~~

Being almost the same age, I too did them back in the day. I don't remember exactly when (early 80's probably) but I used to get 10 at a time and they were rolled up in foil just like life-savers. I really loved the feeling they gave me but the bad news was that my tolerance built up super fast. What one would do the first time around, a couply times later I needed two or three. I recognize they were totally dangerous but back then, but what did we know? Whereas there is a ton of shit around these days that can kill you, back in the 60's and 70's there just wasn't that much out there that would put you 6 ft under (Herion's the only one that comes to mind). Those were some fun times though - young and dumb!

qualudes? I havent heard that word in many moons..
I never took one because I was just a kid.. But my mom, she did.. I was about twelve years old when they were banned all out in the US. My mother had 300 of them and was selling them @ $5 each in 1982 I believe it were..
I have not seen another drug like it since then.. My mother would take three of them and be literally catatonic. Im talking in the floor, mouth agape, drooling and unresponsive...
As a young child this had a grave impact on my life I can tell you that much.. The banning of this drug was rightly so as the "baby boomers" were completely out of control with the use of it..
I remember in the late 70's my parents would have parties and sometimes there would be 10 or more people completely out of it strewn about randomly about the house.. I saw women naked, completely catatonic in the floor with a cigarette that had burned between her fingers and the butt fell on the floor and never woke up. Fingers severely burned.. With a Dr. Hook album skipping on the turntable,
I saw a man stand up from being face down in the floor walk over to our couch, lift the cushion, take out his weenie and commence pissing in our couch. lowered the cushion and then got pissed because he could not suscsessfully locate the handle to flush the damn thing..
It would slow and slurr a users speech so bad that it would take my mom at least 20 seconds to tell the local cop that came for a noise complaint to "kiss her ass". this is not a lie nor an exaggeration.
My uncle, (moms brother) had a 1969 GTO. It had "The judge" on the front fenders.. it was blaze orange with an awesome interior.. That was before the telephone pole.
My step father had a 1969 Oldsmobile "Hurst". this car had leather swiveling seats and tilt steering. It had three gearshifts and hood pins. Silver with black stripes.... rolled 5 times and hit another car.
This car would be worth over $100,000 today.. All due to two or three qualudes.
I remember several different types. There was an orange pill that had "AS" on one side. Also a lemon 7-14. it was yellowish in color.

I will be honest. Nobody ought to lament over the discontinuation of this drug in the US. that is good riddance.. Like I said, It was way more than the baby boomers and their Know-it-all and "all about me" attitude could handle. There would have been thousands of deaths due to overdose and/or auto accidents. We still have our parents and they still think the world was hand made just for them. But they cant have any more qualudes so they will just have to make due with xanax and klonopin whilst they sit in the indian casinos smoking cigarettes and squandering their childrens inheritance away at the slot machines..
As a member of Generation X, that is my take on the fossil that is quaalude.... :)

lol at the catatonic type effects. Though one thing I have learnt about drugs is that the more broken and destroyed you look to others, the more fun you are likely having.
Sounds like good stuff though im sure usage could be done in doses that are functional. I think I will have to get some next week and test them out. Those of you wishing you could still get can live through my experience once i post it lol. Or you can take a vacation to Cape Town. The dollar goes a good distance.

They weren't read dude. Watch out taking fake drugs that were taken off the market in 1984.

I hung out with a chick who was prescribed them. This was like 3 years ago. She used to give me them all the time. Unfortunately I was almost always drunk when I took them so I can't really give a good description of the high other than that I enjoyed it. I remember it being almost dissociative like, it worked well for my anxiety that I suffered from. Definitely a mood lift but not to the point of euphoria. That is basically all I can recall.
I know it was earlier stated that the last ones were manufacture din 1984 but I looked the fuckers up on wiki at the time since I did not know what they were and according to wiki they were ludes.

I would pay *snip* sorry no pricing each for real ludes, best drug ever.

my dad has popped some ludes before and he said it was kinda like taking a bar. he also mentioned taking a "tree" which i think he said contained 3 substances in one pill, possibly 3 barbituates

Yes, I believe they were called Christmas Trees. A barb with a stimulant. I'd have to google it to find out exactly what it was. I wish they existed still, along with ludes. Benzos are fun, but ludes sound way better. My pops loved them.

I know people who took them as teenagers and young adults in the 70s and early 80s. They said how the high from ludes was akin to getting very drunk but with more euphoria. The one guy said how smoking herb on them made everything appear to go in slow motion. The other people said how they would drink on them which is dangerous but that there was a fine line between being luded out, and being blacked out/passed out.

I used to take both Christmas trees and Tuinals back in the 70's/80's but haven't seen either in a very long time. For the record, I think you might be getting some wires crossed, IMHO. In my day, Christmas trees were a green and white capsule which contained a pretty strong amphetamine. That drug had some legs. I could take one in the morning and still have trouble falling asleep at night! As for Tuinals, those were blue and red capsules and were a combination of two barbs (phenobarbital, the blue and seconal, the red). I really loved them back then but there was a trick to taking them or you'd just fall asleep. They too were pretty strong. I would split a capsule in two and take only half at the beginning of the night. Then party a good while and if I hadn't drank too much (bad combo!) I'd take the other half and be really f'ed up for a bit and then hit the sack for some nice sleepy time.

These are the facts as I remember them. If I missed something I'm sure someone will tell me. I haven't seen any of those drugs in decades but back then, I have to say I enjoyed them in moderation.

Since technically ludes are legal in Canada and somewhat in South Africa, do they exist on the black market / dark net?
