Rick Strassman - known for piloting the studies on DMT at the University of New Mexico in 1991, has published a new proof-of-concept study examining the relationshio between psilocybin administration and abstinence from alcohol in alcoholic patients.

Published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology, January 13th, 2015.

I love Strassman's work, he's a true pioneer in this field.

So might there be a physiological mechanism behind this effect, or do you think it might actually be produced via psychological means? If so, how? Might psychedelics actually grant a person insight into maladaptive behavior?

I dont like how people pair up rick strassman and DMT so heavily. DMT was not uncommon or unknown before the 90s.

DMT would have been prevalent at say Woodstock for example, which is important to remember was the "pop" festival of the time period.

As far as shrooms, imo it will only stop drinking that covers up latent material. Some people just drink, enjoy it, or are compulsive.
