With the whole state of the world right now along with the newly started fire at the Ukrainian power plant, I spend more time than ever before thinking about radiation.

Obviously in an event of a nuke in immediate proximity an LSD stash would be destroyed, but so would a lot of other things.

That being said, an exploding power station in Ukraine or a nuke dropped somewhere more far away would bring some fallout.

What is the best way to store LSD to keep it protected from fallout from a distant nuke or power plant explosion? Would it be safe so long as it's in the house? Or would some additional shielding be needed?

Nuclear radiation is a very sketchy topic.
Im not saying its not dangerous, but the fearporn involved with the term is sillyness.

Just look into the places that got nuked and fukushima etc.
When it happened they said it was going to be a deadzone for thousands of years etc,
Same with Tjernobyl...

Yes radiation exists, nuclear energy is potent and needs to be respected.
However they def twist the facts about how long it stays and spread etc.

Chernobyl ended up being a safe haven for wildlife. It turns out the presence of humans is more adverse for wildlife than a nuclear meltdown.

That being said - the radiation is still dangerous for individuals, but not ecosystems. Individuals will still get tumours and stuff, but those ones that do get sick just become food for the other creatures in the ecosystem.

Caveat to the caveat: many people stubbornly refused to leave Chernobyl and some of them lived long and healthy lives. There is also the famous case of a man who by terrible misfortune ended up being in the radiation blast at both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and ended up also living a very long full life. Seems we're sometimes very resilient to radiation.

If there's enough radiation to damage the LSD stashed in your house, the damage done to the LSD should not be your primary concern.

This brings up a good point though, time to start stockpiling psychedelics. Then when the apocalypse comes, you can be that weird old crusty shaman that lives off in the hills, eats LSD and tells people their future.

Yes yes! Stockpiling the cactus seeds are a good bet too, Pedro grows great in a nuclear wasteland

They sell lead lined bags to prevent film exposure in airport x ray machines.

I think a lead lined bag (to block radiation) inside of a faraday bag (to block radio frequencies) would be the way to go.

Maybe someone manufactures lead lined safes??

Sounds like a plan build an ultramodern tiny treehouse why crusty?

They probably are worried about protecting their bombs from acid it might melt them speaking of nuclear blast I live across the street from a fallout shelter probably 1950s around that era in a School but I would be breaking the law if I went inside plus how many people would be trying to get in there if there was a bomb alert I want to move off grid and build a big underground dwelling or at least think I want to to waste time I'm sure there's doomsday preppers prepping today as a hobby. kemosabe how about a Japanese mountain Hermitage with a tunnel at the nuclear blast safe depth

The area of LSD blotters is pretty small, a big aspect of radiation dosage is area exposed. A dose toxic to humans (we have dna in every cell in our body, which takes up quite a bit of area), will likely have no effect on some blotters.

Furthermore, damage from radiation exposure is typically due to mutations of genes, where one unlucky hit in a region of DNA will have quite a large impact. Losing a handful of LSD molecules will not produce noticable effects on potency.

Finally, much of the radiation worry isn't the high energy radiation produced by the blast (if you are exposed to that in a sufficient dose, you will likely not survive long enough to trip on anything), but the fallout produced from fission products. The fallout is going to be particulate matter that emits lower energy radiation. This is still enough to cause cancers if ingested or inhaled, but outside of the LSD tabs getting coated in fallout dust, the risk is going to be negligable (also keeping your tabs in foil will proct from alpha emitters even if the foil is covered in them. Alpha emitters are only dangerous when they have sustained contact with the inside of your body).
