Prisoners boast of cocaine binges on Facebook.. as jail chiefs claim to be winning war on drugs

11 Mar 2013 06:49
CONVICTED killers are among the inmates boasting about using cocaine, cannabis and pills in their cells – days after jail bosses said they had the problem under control.

Robbie Campbell, Scott Nesbitt and Joe King are among the prisoners boasting of their drug binges behind bars
PRISONERS are using Facebook to brag about getting off their heads behind bars – days after
jail bosses said they were clamping down on drugs.

The Record can reveal that inmates, including convicted killers, are using smuggled mobile phones to post pictures and updates which make clear references to cocaine, cannabis and valium.

On Saturday, we told how five prisoners in Scots jails are being caught with drugs every day as seizures hit a 10-year high.

The Scottish Prison Service tried to put a positive spin on the figures, saying the rise was due to increased investment in drug detection.

But today’s Record investigation highlights the true alarming scale of the problem, which will outrage victims of crime.

Record View: Drugs shame of our prisons

In one Facebook post, killer John Edgar tells his friends he is looking forward to a “buket” – hash bucket – after an exercise session.

He writes: “Gym done football done bring on the buket happydaze.”

A pal then jokes: “Get thy lungs open noo.”

Caroline Igoe, John Edgar and Ramesh Kainth
Edgar, 27, from Scotstoun in Glasgow, is serving a minimum of 15 years for a drug and drink-fuelled knife attack on an innocent stranger.

Another murderer who boasts of enjoying cannabis in his jail cell is vile Scott Nesbitt.

Nesbitt, 27, ran at victim Morgan Proctor and slashed him across the face with a Samurai sword.

The blow left a 10-inch wound and sliced through major blood vessels.

Morgan’s jaw was nearly severed and he died almost instantly.

Nesbitt has tried to cover his tracks on Facebook by going under the alias Follow Rfc Rangers.

Cannabis joint
He states he is “chillin skining a doobwa” – slang for rolling a cannabis joint.

Nesbitt then adds: “Aww cany wack it happy days peace out.”

In a separate post, the killer says he is “chillaxin wae a we joint lisenin tae biggy” – rapper Biggie Smalls.

And in a third message, he claims to have his feet up while smoking a cannabis pipe.

Nesbitt, who is serving at least 13-and-a-half years, has also boasted about being “mwi” – mad with it due to drugs.

Another man, who uses the false name Joe King on Facebook, writes on his page that he is planning
to get stoned.

The 32-year-old, of Glasgow, who is on remand and whose real name can’t be published for legal reasons, says: “Gym done and dusted think al get out ma nut lol.”

Zimbabwean inmate Ramesh Kainth claims he is “steaming” behind bars and says he is also taking “blues” – valium sedatives.

Kainth, 37, was jailed for nine years for trying to flood Scotland with heroin and crack cocaine.

Brutal Craig Harvey, who uses the alias Craig Aiche on Facebook, tells a friend he is taking tramadol painkillers while listening to the radio in his cell.

He writes: “Jst listnin tae radio m8 few tramys chilin tae.”

Harvey claims he got his TV taken off him for refusing a drugs test behind bars, smoking and not going to work.

He then asks a pal online if he is doing “Xr2’s” – code for the sedative xanax.

Harvey, 26, wore a Halloween mask while slashing two people in random attacks in Glasgow. He is serving five years and three months.

And it is not only male inmates who are taking drugs inside.

A jail pal of killer Caroline Igoe revealed how Igoe was taking subotex painkillers and cocaine behind bars.

Evil Igoe, 34, shot her boyfriend Martyn Barclay in the head at her Edinburgh home in 2009.

The ex-cellmate wrote a rambling and incoherent post on Facebook. Writing as Farrah N Black, she told a friend how Igoe took a line of cocaine in a “wee half wits room” and said she was saving her “subys” for Igoe to take them.

Surprisingly, we also found one inmate complaining about drugs in prison. Robbie Campbell, 22, used a smuggled mobile to complain that prisoners “full ae the blues need to get a grip screamin out windows”.

Campbell is serving nine years for stabbing a cancer sufferer and robbing a schoolboy.

Last month, jail chiefs announced that they have shut down 170 Facebook sites run by inmates
on smuggled smartphones since 2010. One in five was run from Addiewell. But our investigation shows prisoners appear to have daily access to Facebook.

On Saturday, we revealed that there were almost 2000 finds of illegal substances in Scotland’s jails last year – more than five a day. The number of seizures has almost doubled in a decade.

Addiewell private jail recorded the highest number of breaches with an astonishing 465 seizures last year, and the number of drugs seizures at Kilmarnock has tripled in the last 10 years.

The overall figure of 1949 finds is up 14 per cent on 2011.

The Record has regularly highlighted the problem of drugs and other contraband in jails.

Last week, we revealed how racist murderer Imran “Baldy” Shahid had bulked up behind bars and vowed to attack his enemies – after he contacted us via a mobile phone sneaked into his cell. Lewis Macdonald, Scottish Labour’s justice spokesman, said: “What kind of message does it send to the victims of crime that prisoners can openly brag about the kind of life they are living behind bars?

“It is time we got serious about taking drugs out of prison and cracked down on the use of mobile phones by prisoners.”

Scottish Tory chief whip John Lamont said: “Prisons are supposed to rehabilitate inmates but with more than five drug finds a day the opposite is happening.”

The prison service said: “Unfortunately, the reality is a large part of the prison population have addictions and drug misuse problems and this continues when they are in jail.”

In January, the new prison service chief executive Colin McConnell sparked controversy by calling for inmates to have phones in their cells.

Because when your already convicted and in jail, why not be obvious. Lol

People are going to use drugs. Period.
Whether they are killers or not.
In prison or not.
In every culture in every era of human history, people have used drugs.
Maybe it is time to think differently about drugs, and people's relationship with drugs, instead of just adding more cops and punishing people for doing what people do.

Wow I gotta say maybe handguns arent so bad. I really would rather not be beheaded by a fucking samuri sword..8o

I've said it before and I'll say it again: drug use in prisons is rampant (no matter if its valium or heroin). I've been told its easier to get heroin in prison than anywhere else.

“It is time we got serious about taking drugs out of prison and cracked down on the use of mobile phones by prisoners.”

You mean they werent taking it seriously before?

Those crazy Scotsmen! I thought irvine welsh was the only one who wrote scotspeak phonetically? I guess it is more common than I thought. . Ken wha I mean?

Just go read the European Drug Discussion board sometime, there are a few there who do it, though it's not as thick as in Trainspotting.

Goodness gracious Scottish slang, text-message style, is even more atrocious than American, a feat I thought was impossible

I can just imagine these ginger bastards saying this stuff in person, probably incomprehensible tae mah wee marican ears
