She sensed the wintry chill long before the snow,
Her demons had wreaked havoc, dealt a heavy blow.
Pain and hurt locked away for far too long,
Caught up with her, she felt everything was wrong.

No longer recognizing the person she'd become,
The reflection she saw left her feeling numb.
Winter's cold stare seemed to pierce her soul,
Leaving her feeling lost, no longer whole.

Her humanity seemed to fade away,
The damage she caused to loved ones, she couldn't sway.
She had succumbed to winter's icy grip,
No longer able to feel joy, her spirit began to slip.

But then, before the first snowflake could fall,
She woke up and cried out, surrendering it all.
To God, she pleaded for help and protection,
For herself and those she loved, a divine connection.

Though the answer didn't come right away,
Gradually, a path was rebuilt, leading her astray.
It took time for God to guide her anew,
To where she was meant to be, to start anew.

This is her story, a tale of darkness and despair,
But also of hope, of finding solace in prayer.
For darkness can take so much, leave you with naught,
Yet, with God's intervention, a new life can be sought.

I've recently decided to start new and this is a short short version of my addiction taking control of me and how God will save me. How I will change for this time

It's a beautiful poem.

I think that you should focus on you saving yourself. If you can decide that you want to change and don't want to continue what you're doing, then you can quit.

In my 52 years I've never seen God help somebody that didn't help themselves.
