Opium Poppy (Papaver somniferum) cultivation

^ I agree with all of this. Pods can take you so much higher, but seeds are very useful for maintaining.
You seem to hit uncomfortable side effects with pst before you get that deep into nod-territory. May be thebaine or some other alkaloid in the full-spectrum soup...but pods IME seem to be of a slightly different (though noticeably more agreeable) chemical composition

Fully agreed also with your comments.

I'm doing okay, just back where I was before my habit, always looking for something to fill that stupid ******** hole.

Now I HAVE to be careful with benzos, don't want a repeat of my opiate addiction, the wds will surely be a hell of a lot worse. Thing is, for me, benzos have little rec value compared to full blown opiate agonists (hmmmmmmm).

Thanks for the encouragement space and chooky, good luck with both your travels to wherever it may be.

hope everyone had a successful season, wish I did

dont be shy to upload a sneaky photo or two, we all love that poppie porn %)

^ideally you want to harvest pods when they are fully grown but before the crown opens, this is the peak alkaloid period.
even if they look dead make sure when you harvest them and hang them up to dry for at least a week, stored pods easily go moldy if they contain moisture.

Public poppies? doubtful , don't go round stealing peoples plants it gives drug users a bad name.

^depends , people still plant somniferums for the flowers, the ornamental strains are available at garden centers usually named peony poppies (shit potency and you need at least 10-15 pods to catch a buzz). If they seed they can remain dormant in the soil for years though.

The old "there are worse things" isn't really a great excuse to justify doing something, there are of course far worse things than stealing poppies but given the current grey area of poppy use all it would take would be someone to be caught in the act and it could lead to stricter controls. Also as opposed to grabbing a few lemons from someones tree or something if you were caught you would probably end up with a bunch of charges, theft , trespass and drug possession. This is an HR forum after all.

Hey folks, over the past year alive been cultivating The Persian WhiteOpiumpoppy. And have Been having grest results both in and out doors. I've been growing for seed purposes, as I've never dabbled with opiets. But love the cultivation aspect if it and growing something special. From my harvest i have been drying my seed pods after collecting the seeds (have litterly millions of seeds). Over the last year I've accumulated 100 dried pods (are these drive pods still viable to make tea with?)

Currently I'm ranging between 6-7 pods per plant indoors and outdoors outdoors. And have about 20 pods just rippaning indoors right now. Should these be dried, harvest the seeds then ground uo to make tea?

Anyhow, would like to tey some poppy pod tea. For first time user that has never tried opium. And has no idea his tolerance. What should one dose at? Start at one pod and work my way up each hour until effects are felt?

For someone whos never endulged I've fallin in love with this beautiful plant.

I handle other drugs well, SHROOMS, LSD, 2CI,MDMA, Salvia, cocaine etc.

Yes, dried pods are great for tea. Powder them with a coffee grinder for best results (doesnt need to be a fancy machine).
As for dose, it is best to titrate slooooooowly; especially if you have no opiate tolerance.
In other words, take a small dose and see how it affects you before having more. Opium tea can take up to 3 hrs to be felt in my experience.
It lasts for a long time as well - so if you overdo the dose, it makes you crook as fuck for the next 24-48 hours...so be careful and conservative with your testing.
It can be subtle to start with...but just be careful. Poppy tea used to be my drug of choice, so ive learned the hard way not to go taking big handfuls of pods. I would start with a tablespoon or two (maximum) until youve worked out the potency and how you respond to it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

My plan was to start off slow with a small does and work my way up. Thanks for your personal on how long it could tskr to show effects on the body. As i would have dosed again after an hour if no effects were felt.
If my first attempt at dosing doesn't work should i wait a few days before trying again and slightly upping the dose?

Im not in any hurry to try this, would like to gather as much knowledgeable information as i can b4 trying. Especially since i no longer talk to the person Who gifted me the seeds I really dont have anyone who has tried opium to rely on for direction.

The person who gifted me the seeds told me this variety was one of the highest producing varieties in terms of alkaloid production. He Told me to scar the pod 1mm deep, then to collect the tar evey morning, amd then to do blades with them

Im currently at the stage with my next crop, were they flowered and have dropped their pettles about a week ago. They habe swollen up, crowns are pointing up. Pods have taken on a grayish/blue tint to them and smell very much like chocolate.

If i were to score these pods, and collect the tar, would the pods still be able to be dried, and seeds saved and pods ised in a tea conction at a later date?

For a first time user with no opium experiance, or tolerance what would be the best experiance?
1)poppy pod tea
2)doing blades with the tar
3) Consuming the tar

On another note, I've read mixed review about the plant matter of poppys. Should i be saving the plant matter (leafs and stems) could they be used for making teas? do they contain any alkaloids? If so should the plant matter be dried out? Ground up and stored?

The experiance:
What is one to expect from a first time experiance?
What kind of a setting should it be?
(B4 bed, in bed, indoors outdoors, should one have a trusted friend as a sitter)
Are the effect of injesting tea the Same as doing blades of tar?

For some reason we have valleys of gigatiums and no one blinks an eye. these fields are open aswell. The people in the area just think they look beautiful!

Skunkbudda403, my preferred way to consume poppy tea was to down a nice warm one (and i would wash down the grinds down too for maxiuum absorbency - this is a matter of taste and/or supply) then go to bed and snuggle up with a good record/film/book/loved one.
I always found this maximised the experience....whereas if i went to a party or a pub/club i'd feel pretty much fuck all.
Its subtlety is where it creep upon you.
And without wishing to sound preachy...it is this functionality is what makes pod tea so deceptive and addictive, i think.
Well...that and the euphoria!
I must say however, that i only ever experienced this euphoria when in bed somehwere in between sleeping and vividly dreaming.
Also, the nausea a lot of people report seems (anecdotally) to be negated by lying down, and not moving around too much.

I dont think attempting to smoke homegrown opium is in any way worth it. Just brew a tea. Seriously; no fucking around and not so subtle that you have to question whether it's working or not. Tea leaves no doubt.
But if you do decide to lance some pods - yes, they are still good for making tea :)

Enjoy - but be as careful and disciplined as you can; kicking naturally occurring opiates are no fucking walk in the park, and no less intense than smack or pharmaceutical narcotics for a lot of people.
No fun, that's for sure.

Yeah the dried pods work well. I found some that had been stored and forgotten about and they work just as well as the fresh ones.
I also tend to agree that trying to smoke the sap is way too time consuming for little reward. Eating the fresh or dried sap on the other hand is worth it once you get used to the taste.

Yes you can still cut and dry the pods for later use a tea , they won't be as strong but will still work to some degree. Traditionally you don't score the pods that you are going to keep for seeds, you choose the best pods from the best plants to save for seed for next year.

Tea is by far the most effective method for a first timer. Smoking homemade tar is almost never worthwhile.

If you are going to keep anything else except pods for tea, it should be the sepals ( what covers the flower bud) and the petals . these contain significant amounts of alkaloids compared to the larger stems and leaves, all parts except the roots ( young roots contain a tiny amount) contain desirable alkaloids it just depends how motivated you are to utilise them.

Reading through this thread has provided some excellent info. I planted a small patch this spring and they are doing very well. They are developing at different rates and there are new flowerings every day now. I have taken some of the more developed pods (crown raised up and all that) and blended them up and drank them. I didn't feel any significant effects other than not experiencing any WD's. I take prescription opiates daily for back pain, and did not take them that day.

From what I understand it shouldn't matter if I pick them green or dried to consume them. Any thoughts on this?

Growing poppies is definitely LEGAL. They are grown all the time for floral arrangements. The problems arises when you have to get up each morning and score the pods with a knife (a hawkbill grows great) and scrage the residue that has accumulated from the prior slash. Slash in a shally 2-3 mm cut from the bottom of the pd to the top and gather the resin daily. Poppt likes moderately dry sunny weather. When it flowers, it is all over. However, raw opium is not heroin. mix with PGA or other ethanol like high quality vodka for laudanum. Many people will get a swift allergic reaction to the thebaine content, and a prior course of an antihistimine will reduce this. Use OTC benedryl 30 min before consuming laudanum. Otherwise enjoy. For he record, I am a PhD plant physiologist.

Not sure where you are but "accepted" and legal are two different things. In australia its definitely on the naughty list unless you are one of the growers registered to supply the pharma companies. It is done regularly by gardening enthusiasts though and is often overlooked but is not within the realms of legal behaviour.

Nice man, its got that nostalgic wa feel to it, with the corragated fences like that.

I heard the wd is bad when it comes to poppy tea. Is it as bad as codeine in the grand scheme of things?
