Opioid induced constipation, how long for it to pass?

I gave myself hemorrhoids last week and couldn't figure out how I got them.

Then I realized it was probably by way of dosing about 50 mg codeine daily by way of OTC analgesics.

Discontinued yesterday, how long until I return to regular gastric activity?

I hadn't thought a mild clinical dose of codeine would cause this but, I have also recently developed a hyper tolerance to any and every chemical or CNS drug known to man.
 
No experience with this?

I sank a carton of prune juice today and my lower intestine now feels like a bratwurst.

It feels like something awful may happen shortly....

I feel awful.

Solpedeine (codeine + paracetamol) is normally what I take when I feel awful.

maybe regular paracetamol could act to assist codeine discontinuation?

But I was on 30mg Suboxone daily and it was just horrible

I didn't bother waiting for my digestion to return to normal on it's own

I just quit cold turkey and started mega dosing cheap magnesium supplements

If you want to get relief and empty your bowels quickly, nothing works better than that

Might want to have an electrolyte drink on hand as you'll be getting diarrhea all day and losing a ton of fluid

How long until you were right again?

The process has started for me, and I'm on public transport of all places, a two hour journey.

Running to the bathroom every 10 minutes.
 
By day two you should be 100% normal, just keep in mind that everything that was backed up needs to come out first
 
It will only take a couple/few days after stopping opioids. When I am taking opioids chronically or even just a strong opioid once, I take a regimen of ducosate sodium (stool softener) and osmotic laxative like Miralax (helps bring water into the colon) to help keep things regular. I also take 2 teaspoons of psyllium husk daily (regardless of anything I take that as it is just good to consume insoluble fiber). This trifecta helps a whole lot.
 
I'm also noticing a jittery anxiety in addition (presumably from opioid discontinuation).

This will pass in a couple days also?
 
Yeah of you only were lightly using opioids, it should pass shortly.
 
I take 16mg Suboxone daily, and tmi I know, but I've had the worst shits recently. Like they are so hard that it feels like it's splitting me in half and I even started bleeding from it a couple times.

I've started taking a fiber supplement and magnesium, and it has helped the past couple days. I had some really brutal ones for a couple weeks there before I finally started the supplements.

Yeah, I was getting that and then it gave me awful hemorroids.
 
well johny the only time in my life i shitted how its suppossed to go was when. 1 to 3 times a day I took kratom, I was addicted to it.

Now it's all up to circumstances, as I no longer take Kratom. But no way near as regular or according to the book as when I was on 3/ 4 doses of Mytragina Speciosa daily. So in my case it was the other way around this particular opoid normailzed my bowel movement.
 
Could be, it was a atypical reaction. Although I only used powdered whole leaf so you could be right about the fiber's. But this never happened when i add more fiber to my diet.

and as all opioid's technically constipate you. And Kratom is no exception to the rule. I must be the exception.

But my experience with other opi's is so limited its impossible to compare for me.
 
Good god I remember having that first shit for a week cos I'd run out of DHC and fucking hell!

Sorry it will come out in a couple of days but THERE WILL BE BLOOD!

Onve you have that big hard pop everything should be about normal. It's called "popping the cork" in some circles...
 
Oh and drink lots of water. If you have the means to have a loved one or yourself give you an enema it'll make the process a lot less painful...but tbf I think that'd be overkill
 
If your gonna do opiates might as well accept and get use to shoving these up your ass, they work well, have you shitting in 30min. and softens it up a bit too so it’s dosent feel like your shooting a porno while shitting
