The Las Vegas Review Journal is reporting that one 24 year old man has died and five additional people were taken to the hospital at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas.

According to the Clark County Corner’s Office, the deceased has been identified as Montgomery Tsang of San Leandro, Calif. He was pronounced dead at 6:15 AM at University Medical Center.

Tsang is believed to have collapsed in the parking lot after the event had ended early this morning. Some initial reports are saying that Tsang suffered from a pre-existing heart condition, but this has not been confirmed.

Insomniac public relations spokeswoman Jennifer Forkish issued the following statement:

Today we learned some very tragic news, that after attending the festival a guest of the show has passed away. We are deeply saddened by this news, and hope that everyone will join us in keeping his family and friends in their thoughts during this very difficult time. Dance music fans pride themselves in being part of a loving community and, as we get ready to start the second night of the show, we ask everyone to help us keep this event safe. One death is one too many, and we all must do our part to keep each other safe, healthy and happy, tonight and every night”

In addition to the death, The Las Vegas Police Department is reporting that on the first day of the festival, 29 people were arrested on drug related charges and 5 people were taken to hospitals. A total of 249 people who received medical treatment on day one of EDC 2014. 400,000 people are expected to attend the festival.

This is Electric Daisy Carnival’s fourth year at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It moved there in 2011 after a 15 year-old girl died at the festival’s original location in Los Angeles.
