novel pathways for spinal pain inhibition?

Somewhat desperate here. I know this doesn't necessarily seem like advanced drug discussion, but I don't mind taking this into complex territory.

Is there any top down selective central inhibitors that modulate pain sensation in the spinal cord without affecting cognition? Any what to reduce hyperalgesia, so that the stimulus is not perceived in such a "painful" way?
