nicotine as a mood stabilizer

Well, we all know that nicotine is not gonna get you high, but I figured that it works as an effective mood stabilizer. As long as Im a smoker, I've noticed that my mood is not gonna be too far from normal. It seems that somehow decreases both depressing feelings, sadness and anxienty, but also hapiness and even empathy. Is that a thing?

I believe so. I think the maoi properties of tabacco play a part in this.
