UK Ecstasy Warning - Avoid Lime Green 'Euros'

The death of 19 year old student Lorna Spinks last weekend, who reportedly took just 2 "extra-strong' ecstasy pills prompted British cops this week to issue a warning against the lime green coloured 'Euros' linked to the teenager's death. "From the enquiries we have made it does appear that these tablets were of exceptionally high strength," Superintendent Tony Southern of Cambridge police told the Telegraph. "I cannot expect everyone will stop taking ecstasy in light of this tragic incident but we are extremely concerned about the potentially fatally high strength of these pills."

What would a fatally strong dose of MDMA be? There have been reports from the web site www.eve-rave.ch of Snoopy's with an MDMA content of 152mg. I'm not aware of any problems associated with these pills even though they have a very high dose of MDMA by todays standards.
Also, in Alexander Shulgin's book PIHKAL, clinical uses of MDMA included dosages of 120mg followed by a supplementary dose of 40mg 1.5 hours after the initial dose. This clinical dose is about double the dose of a single pill currently avalable, without any dangerous effects.
Therefore, given that the dosage of MDMA in pills has been steadily decreasing to maximise profits, is it logical to assume that these pills contained something other that MDMA? Have there been any post mortem reports of the cause of death yet? Or is this another case of the media jumping the gun and repoting before they have all the facts?

Read any FAQ about MDMA and you'll find out that the dangerous level for actual toxic poisoning with MDMA is well in excess of 2000mg. The deaths usually associated with 'xtc' are more often attributable to hyperthermia, dehydration, hyponatremia or poisoning by adulterants (including unexpected drug synergies).

Thing is that we're talking about an o.d. However you just can't tell how the body will react. Just because you only took 100 mg let's say, doesn't mean it is not out of the realms of possibility to die, it doesn't happen often (1 in a million, probably less) but unfortuanately it does happen.
My point? I guess what I'm trying to say is that just because she didn't take 2 grams, doesn't mean it's impossible to die, the human body is the biggest variable in the equation when you take any drug.

For my birthday in 99, i had a green mitizi, it was like my 3rd ever roll and i thought i was a big man so i dumped the whole thing down, big mistake >
newayz, i basically sat back in da limo with my eyes rolled back, tounge out side of mouth and gurgled a bit, felt sooo fucken good, must have looked a bit wierd, all my mates r like, "u ok man? u looked fucked!" newayz, was sitting ther for about 10 mins feeling absolutly whacked, then all of a sudden, out of the blue, the thought of vomit came to mind, and that was enuff to do it, luckily some of my mates were only a bit drunk so they chucked me out of the limo quik enuff and i blew chunks outside, had a funny greeny colour, nooooo well neways i think i had absorbed a fair bit newayz, i sat ther hunched over for a bit, feeling shit, well thinking that i was feeling shit then all of a sudden realised that i felt fucking wikked, got up and ran the rest of the way to the clubs > moral of the story? well, apart from being a half-pill-at-a-time boy, usually if u have too much MDMA at once, ya body will usually just "orally reject" it, just as long as u stay concious, lucky for me my mates kept shaking my head and keeping me awake or i dunno wot would have happened, newayz, thats my 2.2c including GST, sorry bout the length >

just got the latest issue of 7 mag with an update on the story, it seems the pill was not that strong with tests showing the 300mg tablet contained 129mg of ecstacy(good pill!).
In the article lifeline criticisae the police for issueing a false warning saying that it was not an exceptionally high dose and I'll quote
" There is no hard data to show that the strength of a particular pill is a factor in ecstacy related fatalities-these are almost exclusively related to heat stroke- new research is beginning to suggest that some people are more genetically predisposed to heatstroke than others. People deserve better information than this- whenever there's a death the police talk about a 'rogue' or killer batch or go on about the strength of the pill-in our experiences rogue batches and extra strong pills are not the causes of death."
