Still no detail on how stolen items got under floor

A 49-year-old Snoqualmie Valley man who pleaded not guilty to a drug charge in King County Superior Court yesterday still hasn't told officials how $2,000 in stolen property that police think was taken from a charity event ended up in his crawl space.
Timothy Tatom is being held in King County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail, said prosecutors' spokesman Dan Donohoe. If convicted of manufacturing methamphetamine with the intent to sell, Tatom could spend 2-1/2 to almost 3-1/2 years in prison, Donohoe said.
Church officials identified items found in Tatom's house as the stolen equipment, court documents say.
Earlier this month, King County sheriff's deputies raided Tatom's home in the Wilderness Rim neighborhood south of North Bend. Detectives found substances they suspected were methamphetamine in the arm of a recliner, a dishwasher and a desk drawer and between the pages of a book, according to court documents.
In a hidden compartment under Tatom's bedroom floor, detectives found music equipment they suspected was stolen, the documents say. When detectives questioned Tatom about the items found in the crawl space, he denied knowing anything about them. But later, he stated "people just bring him things and he does not know if the items are stolen or not," charging papers say.
Deputies later confirmed the items were taken during a Dec. 18 burglary at North Bend's Sallal Grange Hall. Watches, jewelry, CD players and other expensive toys were stolen from the hall the night before hundreds of needy community members were to select donated presents for their children and grandchildren. Thieves also took about $2,000 worth of public-address and office equipment that belonged to Mountain View Baptist Church. Church services are held at the Grange Hall.
