Moldy shrooms?

my sister has some chocolate infused mushrooms shes had since december last year, originally they had no smell but now they smell really cheesy like feet, theyve been stored in a sealed baggie inside an airtight plastic tub, are they still edible? what would happen if i ate it?

Something akin to food poisoning if I had to guess, which is all I can do really. If they were odourless when they went in the tub but now stink then they probably weren’t properly dry when they went in.

mushrooms do tend to smell like cheesy feet, at least in my experience. if they were fine and dry before, and were stored correctly, i'm ASSUMING that if they are still dry, they might be ok... but that's a guess... when in doubt, throw it out.

there might have been a slight amount of moisture when they were sealed... in which case they are (again, just a guess) no good. food safe dessicant packs (and a food dehydrator) are your friend.
