Just stumbled about this paper (in Spanish, autotranslation here) which is about a new benzodiazepine relative drug that could improve memory loss and cognitive deficits resulting from chronic stress, depression and somehow rejuvenilate prematurely aged brain cells - by "activating" GABA but probably they mean something different than that. Unfortunately it's a bad article without sources and the chemical name was omitted too.

Maybe someone of you guys knows which compound it's about? Could it be Ro5-4864 / 4-chlorodiazepam or no (this one is purposedly antidepressant, analgesic, anxiogenic while reports state otherwise - and can trigger seizures but nothing about memory.)

Maybe it's something that is a selective antagonist at alpha-5 subunit containing GABA-A receptors. That kind of compounds are nootropics without being anxiogenic, and they have been planned as a therapy to make people with Down's syndrome develop a more normal level of intelligence (the mental retardation in that disorder seems to be caused by an overactive GABA system).
