Meth Myth or Fact

So I'm curious to find out if there's any truth to at least a partial myth on meth. They say when you inhale it you should not hold it in. When ask why not I'm either met with the answer because it will crystallize your lungs or I don't know. Now due to Crystal's water solubility I know that the only answer I get isn't true but is there any other real reason? Also whether there is or isn't any negative effects of it does holding it in longer allow for more to be absorbed? I always wrote this one off in large part to dealers wanting to make more money so that users would go through it faster. Cause while I didn't know if there were any actual negative effects to doing it....other then maybe absorbing more of the drug in your system (which is let's face it the only reason people smoke more then one hit to begin with), I just have a hard time believing that by holding it in you wouldn't get more in your system than if you didn't.

Meth lab?

Myth or Fact

Meth does not crystallize your lungs, ridiculous myth.

As for holding it in, the majority of the drug is absorbed within a second or two. There's not much reason to hold it in for longer than that.

To maximize absorption hold it in for a second, then blow out a bit but not all of it, inhale, repeat two or three times. This will circulate the smoke to increase surface area exposure and maximum absorption.

yes. also exhaling slowly through your nostrils

Holding in the meth vapor will not get you much higher than if you took a couple of big, fast hits.

Crack OTOH pays you dividends not to exhale.

Thanks for the replies and information. In terms of meth mouth and tooth related issues I would agree it's probably a combination of poor hygiene, not drinking enough water, and often the teeth grinding associated with taking methamphetamines. On top of all those much like how your bowl quickly builds up a film of residue over it after just a few hits it only makes sense it would do something similar to anything it encounters. Granted unlike the glass your mouth being wet it wouldn't build up in quite the same way. However it's my strong belief as it melts and mixes with your saliva it's acidic properties can only cause your mouths total acidity to increase softening your enamel and making it more prone to erosion. The thing is it's not always just poor hygiene that can be the problem. In fact I believe often it's quite the opposite. People trying to practice good hygiene to slow the effects of the issues that it's known to cause. So maybe they brush their teeth more or they brush their teeth harder and while they're enamel is softer are actually doing more harm than even someone who brushes much less. In my experience (and I can't say that my teeth have gone completely unharmed but also wasn't doing this from the beginning and still don't always remember to) I find that after smoking if I swish some tap water in my mouth a couple times because tap water is much more alkaline than many other things and a heck of a lot cheaper than all these bottled alkaline waters that are becoming a trend right now. That doing that helps keep the acidity down. Even if that's not something you do every time you take a hit because let's face it that can be pretty often. It's something I would recommend at the very least doing 20 minutes before you decide to brush your teeth and not smoke again until after you've done it. To give your enamel a chance to harden back up and allow you to brush them the way you're supposed to. By adding baking soda to your water (and a little really does go a long way ((you shouldnt really taste a difference to your water or you've added more then you need to)) that can drastically increase its alkalinity and help to bring your mouths PH to a better place.

Also one more thing (and I know this is getting to be really long so I'll wrap it up) but there's something called colloidal silver I use as well. There are a few different types of it and different ways it's made but all seem to often get coined under the same name of Colloidal silver (such as nano silver and ionic silver). In large part the only difference between one and another is the particle size of silver which is suspended in this distilled water solution. Silver has for thousands of years been known to have extremely powerful antimicrobial benefits and essentially can kill things that even our most powerful antibiotics nowadays are sometimes unable to. The difference between the two is actually quite drastic and unlike antibiotics the way that the silver ions penetrate the outer walls of bacteria isn't something that they can learn to develop resistance against, or at least we've yet to see any instance of that. Whereas antibiotics in their mechanisms are prone to bacteria developing resistance against them over time which is a whole other major thing that's got a lot of the healthcare industry highly worried with the emergence of these things they call super bugs. There's something called biofilm which is this extremely impermeable barrier essentially that these colonies of bugs build up and make that cause antibiotics to be much less effective. Things like MRSA. And as a result many people live with it for the rest of their lives because the antibiotics can only treat instances of it surfacing and not get to the root. Anyhow all that extra info aside (and there is a ton of it and a lot of misinformation too) there are machines that can make it easily and cheaply available for purchase that are under $150. Essentially allowing you to make an unlimited supply at your fingertips minus buying new silver rods every few years. Which at silver prices right now costs roughly $25.
I only mentioned the machines because you can also buy colloidal silver pre-made but literally they will up charge you at an astronomical premium for the convenience of not having to make it yourself. But for something that is so very easy and simple and cheap to produce yourself why wouldn't you?. ANYHOW...... all that said I swish and gargle it and the silver pretty much kills any bacteria in your mouth for many many hours at a time. And the water barely has a metallic taste to it so it's very palatable. But basically if you don't have these bacteria in your mouth that excrete these acids they create as a byproduct and with makes your mouth prone to cavities in the first place (crystal smoker or not) then not only is that less acidity to deal with but also as a byproduct of not having these little buggers pumping out all of those violate byproducts you also don't have bad breath. I'll sometimes use it when I go to bed and feel too lazy to actually brush my teeth before I fall asleep. Which is really gross I know but at least that way I can knock down all the bacteria while I do it until I do actually wake up and brush. So this is a whole lot alotta but I honestly believe that it's really helpful and good information. Do your own research though!!! You don't know me and I'm certainly not trying to sell you any silver making machine myself. Just know they're out there and that it can help with so many other issues too like avoiding cold sores, athlete's foot, healing and easing pain from Burns or abrasions, styes that people get on their eyelids and a slew of other things. Again there's a lot of misinformation out there and they will probably try to tell you that it can turn you blue which has happened in a total of three occasions ever. And has no actual physical ailments associated with it other than looking like a Smurf if you're crazy enough to drink gallons upon gallons of it for years and years and years. The thing is for something that has literally so many different applications (and I have not even come close to listing 1% of them) the FDA has a mysterious lack of testing ever done on it. And recently went all out against it and did everything short of trying to completely ban it saying it's not safe to take orally. For something that thousands upon thousands of people all swear upon and that I have yet to hear any negative horror stories about, thats proported to cure or fix a slew of problems it's completely idiocratic that the FDA would not have extensive testing to back up their claims of it being dangerous. If I had to guess I would say that had they did testing on it it would probably have out performed other drugs that they've approved and that big pharma would be hurt pretty badly with people abandoning their medicines (that often have terrible side effects in many cases) for something that is both easy to make, cheap, and readily available without side effects. I love the United States of America and I believe that our country is pretty great compared to many places in the world but I don't believe that it should come at the cost of us being fear-mongered and told that we need to do things their way in order to be able to enjoy it. Do you research and be well!

The meth of today is not the meth of yesterday. I used to be a lightweight, and just a few hits would cause euphoria, and keep me going for at least a day ... and I always needed something to comedown with ... maybe a benzodiazepine, or opiate with hypnotic effect. Now, I can use it endlessly and constantly with no ill effect. I feel it, sure, but it is NOTHING like what it once was. I'm not good a measuring on-sight, but these were large backs full with a glass-looking substance. I'm guessing the formula was changed, and it's much, Much, MUCH weaker than it once was.

Oh, I also thought this was true!

I was smoking a pipe with my meth dealer back in the day and I held it in for ages and he told me I probably have heaps of crystals built up in my lungs.

I guess I believed him because I was a fucking mess at the time.

Looking back it it, so was he.

...

Thanks for clarifying, peoples.

I'm sure it's not healthy to have that shit in your body. Some claim the Methamphetamine-vapor corrodes their teeth,. Does it. we don't really know. We only know that it's probably not good.

Meth-Mouth, is believed now to be caused by the combination of dry mouth, neglect of oral hygiene and sugary drinks.

it's also because it depletes your body of essential nutrients, mainly from being malnourished, and the first place your body goes to replenish those nutrients, is to your teeth

Absolutely, %100, finally, someone says the actual reality behind it.

As a former meth user years back, I was mostly a speed addict though/RC stims as well. But the most important stuff you could keep up with if you use meth, is hydration, nourishment, supplements (NAC, Magnesium, Calcium (For your teeth). And absolutely don't brush your teeth more than you need to. That WILL fuck up your gums. (Been there done that, with both malnourishment, lack of hydration and nuking my gums by scrubbing too hard. Pretty confident I have periodontitis from the lack of self care, advanced from when back then it was just gingivitis from lack of hydration (in 2020-2021), and all I do today is just kratom. (Off topic, kratom toss n wash, is probably terrible too, as it's likely very abrasive), and I still am feelin the consequences of the lack of care from when I used stims, especially methamphetamine. And I brush quite well, white enough to compete with gucci manes teeth.

So that should tell you enough to know, it comes down to self care being priority when using meth, or any other stim in this case.

Tl;dr: it's a mixtuure of what Rich and Krinkle posted. As if it was just dry mouth, I'd imagine we'd have stoners losin their teeth quite a bit more. Take care of your self when using stims.

it's the same thing when you don't eat right - you don't even have to do meth....just keep eating like shit and see what happens to your teeth

it's like those asians that just live off of mainly eating rice - they have terrible teeth too

Malnourishment, really, really can fuck you up, than any hard drug for sure. I remember reading that actually, was it china that had an issue with that in the 80s?

Though anything between your teeth crackin because you lack calcium, and fallin out, to gums receding.. To even scars you have opening up because you didn't have enough iodine or vitamin C (dont remember the name of that disorder, scurvy?)

Scary stuff. Take care of your selves y'all ESPECIALLY using stims, as you burn through your nutrients faster. And when you hit too low, stuff can really hit from 0 to 100, FAST.

If you do meth - Consider some multivitamins, one a day.
Magnesium Glycinate
Sodium rich foods, don't over do this one though for hydration reasons
Electrolyte drinks
Dairy, and just any protein source.
Fatty or carb rich foods.
And for once don't listen to your parents and treat your self to some sugary treats with some bread, soup or crackers, throughout your stim.

yea just eat....easier said than done tho right?

the last time i did it, i ate half of a bagel in 3 days - that was it....i lost 10 lbs in 4 days

my stomach shrank so much, by the time the 4th day rolled around, and i had stopped, i was nauseous almost that entire day after trying to drink coffee in the morning

so i ordered some pho - veggies in beef broth - it was just what the doctor ordered

and then i continued to sleep like shit for a few more days after i had stopped

the hangover from that shit just makes it so much not worth it if you ask me

In addition to all that's already mentioned, I'm sure that lack of sleep weakens one's immune system. So now you have an unhealthy mouth that is a perfect environment for bacteria and your ability to fight it is compromised. It would be shocking if tooth decay and gum disease didn't occur.

One small point to add: the same tooth decay is seen in IV users. This would seem to invalidate claims that it is due to condensation on the surface of the teeth, or increased acidity in the mouth exclusively. Now it certainly can increase the systemic pH (see below). It also supports the nutrition arguments.

I've seen someone's skin essentially dissolve from the inside before, leaving open sores and lesions. The stuff is not great for you, but a lot of the I'll effects can be mitigated by staying hydrated. Your body is designed to filter contaminants, but it requires the raw materials to do so.

Water is your best friend when consuming recreational substances, but BE SURE YOU GET ENOUGH SALT (see: Leah Betts).
