Fucking epic movie, I like how Max was portrayed. Strong and silent, very few lines for being the main character. I thought that was brilliant. Not to mention Tom Hardy is just a badass anyways.

I've seen the original Mad Max and the second one Road Warrior, never seen Beyond Thunderdome though. Didn't have high expectations for this movie, but went into it open minded. Was wayyy better than I expected! Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Mad Max can't make the shot. But who can?

don't breathe.

I didn't think it was sending that much of a pro-feminism message, but you do make some good points. This particular one seemed easy to explain though. Furiosa was clearly thought of as a capable warrior. They let her take the War Rig and she was initially leading a group to raid other tribes (the Bullet Farm and another one that I can't think of), so she was a seemingly high ranking member of Immortan Joe's clan and was clearly capable of dishing out the violence. In the scene pictured here, the gun had only one bullet left and the gun came from the War Rig. Furiosa had more experience handling and shooting it. With that being such a pressured shot the weapon should go to whomever had the most experience with it regardless of their sex.

It's not like the men were made out to be inept or bumbling fools. I took it as a movie with strong female characters. Looking at the world they lived in you'd have to be pretty bad ass just to survive much less attain a high ranking position in one of those tribes.

It wasn't like the women always came out looking good or superior. Spoilers:
NSFW:
Furiosa leads herself and a few other healthy breeders into an even bleaker future due to following her blind hope. The other women followed solely on Furiosa's beliefs. If it wasn't for Max they would have kept going forward to nowhere instead of going back where they initially started. If it wasn't for Nux they wouldn't have been able to fix the War Rig up as needed or had anyone to kamikaze the truck. It seemed to be as pro-women as it was pro-men imo.

That being said you did bring up some finely written points

because feminism is about destroying a system that's hurtful to both men and women - both women and men are suffering under the patriarchal hell hole that immortan joe runs. i'd argue that you can have strong female characters that aren't feminist (the avengers) or even anti feminist, but i don't think that's what happened in this film.

I liked the first three. I hate Mel Gibson. I like Grace Jones. I don't really know why I didn't like the new one other than it is a kind of remake. Also, it seems like it lacks the 'epic' quality the first three had.
