Dave smith suggests woke culture has been supported and disseminated by corporations to get the peoples minds off serious issues like corporate welfare and pollution and onto hounding someone for dressing up as Al Jolson.

They are all really keen to promote diversity - just dont mention pollution or them creaming off tax money. As long as its nothing to their profits they will all "diversity wash"

Interesting is nt it "the same but different and equality in diversity, we cannot have both, it's like heisenberg uncertainty, all science, you change one thing, it alters another.
Reverse the curse and turn the tide. Slogans.
I'll write a book of good shot stories how fortune does favour the brave and beautiful and the wicked don't sleep they lie on layers of lies and that's why they need police protection

Policy makers.. Pathetic stuff.. That's what my ex cyster is into research I. N social policy. Bullshit. People who are scared of work pushing pens and tapping keyboards never push. A barrow not handle shovel. That London school of economic s if I had semtex eh? The ira wouldn't sell it me for that cos that's sinn fein bizniz. Now diversity, equality.

After watching the world move on first hand over the past few years as middle age commenced it has been rough to find oneself on the wrong side of most cultural issues and as a lifelong Americaphile I have found myself a particularly gullible and deserving recipient of the most recent toxicity, something I first observed on here during the 2016 US election cycle played out in TL, The CEAP forum before spilling out onto Reddit. Having spent my life around right on drug users (I have never socialised with other heroin users with one exception, the exception managing to retain my friendship and genuine trust for nearly 8 years before I dropped her off one night to find she had left the car with not only the drugs I had just bought her but my wallet and phone as well), I was naive enough to think that most BL members were at least personal libertarians. While I understand that many original members regard the likes of me and my ilk as ruining BL, this influx of Junkies appearing at the turn of the decade, I always considered myself as just a caner who had took it too far, too long in the tooth to become a career criminal at the age of 26 managing to avoid both thievery and its morally acceptable, if difficult beyond imagination alternative - sex work. I only find myself above the tea leaves and muggers due to circumstance - I had access to tens of thousands of pounds in unsecured loans (which was only finally paid off in full in 2015) and when I finally cleaned myself up the first time I went straight back to being a dippy lovey cheesy quaver type.

By the time I was well into my relapse and was managing well thanks to the RC vendors and the fun on here at the time, the whole US political thing, something I disengaged with following the 2000 electoral farce, 9/11 and the resulting bullshit, started to infect the online world. From where I was sitting and despite his behaviour being as bad as any contemporary leader esp. with regards to murdering foreigners, I still never appreciated just how upset certain folk still were about Pres. Obama's election. While I know these problems are universal, it seems clear that a certain significant minority of mainstream America had real trouble accepting a black man as President and the reaction and rise of alt - right attitudes was enough to give someone like me whiplash, suddenly learning (from BL members first and foremost) that my beliefs made me a 'low energy' (that became a self fulfilling prophecy) / 'low - T' SJW piece of crap. Having had a career in UK helath and social care, I was told by American exceptionalists that unlike them I had managed to avoid getting a real job - nursing was not only a 'women's job' (this being considered a bad thing for some reason by both US based men and women) but an excuse for me to rob the taxpayers through the excuse of socialised policies, treating even bigger losers who claim healthcare there financial status should deny them. Then followed the overt racism, edgelord after edgelord who despite their awfulness, still put me in my place. As their main focus in life was to 'own the libs', something they utterly succeeded doing to me by driving me mad with the bullshit they claim to, even now, on other parts of the site, I am as responsible as anyone for the schoolyard farce the whole thing has become and rather than a con trick as such, corporate 'wokeness' is just a self evident lie. The term itself is designed to be another eye - roller and represents nothing beyond a general notion of actual political correctness, not the ludicrous BS language that has had people falling over themselves but just basic correctness i.e. actual fairness, politically, something that corporations actively have no interest in.

Any CEO who actually woke up 'woke' would lose their seat the moment they shared their first new idea with their colleagues.

Sorry, another pipe isn't it?

I think corporates are more seeing woke people as a very significant and lucrative market niche and adjusting their branding accordingly. Your higher earning consumer demographic tends to have come through the woke-preaching universities and subscribes in varying degrees to SJW/Woke positions. In our predominantly service economies they are increasingly the fastest growing and/or largest market segment - seeing as you now need a degree to wash dishes at the back of a restaurant.

Designing a business to cater to tradespeople and shopeowners driven by pragmatism and common sense won’t get you into the Fortubne 500 anytime soon.

Also the youthful employee base of most major businesses skews towards the woke demographic and to attract the best and brightest from that generation companies need to demonstrate values with which that generation will willingly and enthusiastically align. Regardless of what shareholders might think.

Ok, so I don;t know what the fuck I am on about. I am a daily viewer of many US indy media outlets and the concept of The Hill's 'Rising' is that it pairs a self - styled progressive Democrat and (in the US) fairly well known news personality, Krystal Ball (yes, she has a strippers name but her Mom and Dad obviously had the future in mind at their daughters birth as opposed to smut) along with a conservative equivalent, young indy political journo and reality - acknowledging Republican, Saagar Enjeti. Great thing is, Saagars away this week leaving guest Emily Jashinsky to smash the granny out of said topic..

can somebody explain to me the difference between 'woke' and identity politics? in my head they are the same and both annoy me massively.

essentially i am liberal, i can't really be arsed to get upset about a particular section of society as long as they aren't hurting anyone but themselves. i'm sure i do, however, have unconscious biases. but i don't think adopting some extreme woke ideology will help with that, rather it would just cause other equally nonsense biases.

anyway i am quite drunk so i'm sure eventually i shall become sober and cringe at what i've just written. its difficult for me to articulate how much i hate almost everyone regardless of demographics or whatever even sober.

I think of woke as being primarily broad-based virtue signalling on every possible social justice concern. It’s actively seeking the opportunity to demonstrate your superior moral standing. Because you are morally superior you can arbitrate what is appropriate for others, and cancel things that are inappropriate (per your judgement).

Identity politics is just a subset of that.

I remember that gang of kids stood bellowing at people in a restaurant to give a black power salute - i would have been over the table with a flying headbutt and then been kicking and a gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer as johnny cash would say.

I'm so impressed with this meme I made.

WEF-NWO.jpg

I thought the NWO was daft but then I heard about the WEF, and then I searched for the New World Order on duckduckgo and got all this:

Master manipulators, fucking control creeps.

Woke is a way to compromise what used to be the left and is now neo-liberal.

Woke is simply the antithesis of awake. I think a lot of people feel trapped in it because they're so confused and frightened.

"you can't handle the truth" - indeed. Don't let them black pill you, people. x <3

It's a cultural marxist trick. There is some kind of pc score that corporations get or don't get depending on how woke they show themselves (forgot what the name of that score is). If they aren't woke enough that score drops (kind of like a chinese style social credit score only for legal entities) and they end up with worse access to credit. This explains why so many corporations suddenly became so woke and were like "oh my god, yes yes we totally support the lgbtq+-/?zrfblabla movement and we are superduper inclusive and everyone is so equal, yada yada yada...".

It's a political agenda. It's insane really. The world has become officially insane. Clinically insane in fact. What's scary is that this insanity is seen as normality...the new normal.
