Is sellotape safe to use to stick my bongstem together

ive been using it recently and because i had no screen the cherry actually went down and heated up the tape which tasted foul and made the water go bad after just one hit some of the hits felt really rough but now i found a screen im still using it but no danger of heating it up im gonna buy a new one next week
