It's a dumb question cause I'm well aware it's high (I am prescribed 8mg three times daily for my back pain, along with 150mg Lyrica (pregabalin) three times a day) but I don't get much of an effect from it. It sort of helps the back pain, not by a whole lot, so I typically end up taking 2-4 doses at once, cause it's better to take it at once and feel okay for a few hours than be in pain all day regardless if I take it or not. But there are times I end up taking far more than I need to (6 to 8 doses, which equates to 48mg-64mg of Bupe at once) which, even at that point, the effects are hardly noticeable to be honest. The first 2 days I took this, one strip was enough to help and gave a noticeable effect, but that died off VERY quickly, and I was taking this level ever since.
From what I understand, tolerance shouldn't work that fast but there's no other reason I would have nearly no effect, from what I can tell. So I'm wondering if I should risk a conversation with my Pain Clinic doctor asking for a dose increase. Last time I asked, we went from around 300 mcg (micrograms) 3 times a day to 8mg so it was quite a large jump. Anyway, the doctor is very lenient, doesn't test for THC and when I told her I was using weed occasionally to supplement the other meds, they said they don't test cause if they did the government wouldn't let them give me medication so they just stopped testing for it (cause they're pro-weed). Do you think I should ask for higher dose? Will it even help? I hear the blood-saturation does increase linear-wise but the actual effects have a ceiling so maybe I'm already at that ceiling? I've never actually been "high" per se but it sometimes gives me a slight effect of a little bit of numbness or lighter feeling, but nothing much more. So am I actually at the ceiling? Do I need to take even more than 8 at once to see if it gives any recreational effect? Or is this just another case of "You're opioid resistant so you'll never feel the effects of it" and there's no hope for effects, whether that be recreationally or medically?
Also, I'm curious if there's a way to reset tolerance or something, I will sometimes take a break from it for a few days or even a week, I don't really get withdrawal symptoms, it's harder to sleep cause I'm in more pain (usually a 5 or 6 on the pain scale) but nothing else. Any tips for me to make the most of my meds? Thanks
