Iran to Observe Anti-Drug Day By Destroying 100 tons

Iran will observe the International Day of Combat against Drug-Jun 26, with the incineration of 100 tonnes of illegal hallucinogens, 60 of them in this capital, official sources announced on Tuesday.

The remaining 40 will be burned simultaneously in 16 provinces, added the anti-narcotics Special Forces through the IRNA official news agency.

Army and civil administration officials will be the witnesses, added the source.

Iran has borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, countries in which there are poppy crops from which heroin is extracted, a hallucinogen widely used in Asia and Western Europe, and officials frequently announce the capture of caches.

According to data from the UN specialized agency, the Islamic Republic has one of the first places in the world in the fight against drug trafficking because of the human and financial resources devoted to this activity and its results in prevention.

LMFAO at them calling heroin "a hallucinogen widely used in Asia and Western Europe". How misinformed can they be!? When the article said 100 tonnes of illegal hallucinogens would be incinerated I was genuinely curious what hallucinogen was trafficked in Iran in that quantity, turns out it is just heroin as one would expect to be the main drug at a drug incineration in Iran.
